And we all have certain filters for it: after the 2016 election. First thing I did.....renewed my passport.

Fear is the single most effective method of control.

Then try expanding your circle to include more people who don't get their news from infowars.

The Catholic church excels at this, among others.

@Eugene I left that group years ago but the fear hasn't left me.

I remember offhandedly hearing a ton of conspiracy theories out of the lounge at my catholic church.

I've learned that if anyone begins to feed fear into a conversation, they're seeking some form of easy dominance.

@Morgan my father is a bible thumper......and scares the sh*t out of me too. "IF you don't accept Jesus Christ as your savior. You're going to hell."

I've heard that as well, @Lucy. My response has always been, "Yes."

But don't tell yourself that it's too late @Lucy. Be in control. Do what needs to be done to put all this in a context that's reasonable. Then you don't have to be afraid of it. It's the same as being prepared, only you're prepared to be Lucy.
