And on a one-day road trip one time with my grandfather, we listened to the album "Stardust" by Natalie Cole, on cassette tape, with all those old standard pop songs from the 1940s. I like her versions and her father Nat "King" Cole's the best.

Love this! I grew up with Natalie's Unforgettable... With Love album playing constantly. I rediscovered it a few years ago and was actually just listening to her version of Paper Moon last night. It's a fantastic album.

When i was little I got a radio and before i took it apart, I listened to um, oldies without knowing what those were. So I knew more about the Beach Boys and the Beatles than what was current at the time. so I started with the 50s and 60s. I next keyed in on a Country Rock station and then finally *drumroll* the 80s! Heavy Metal became my favorite kind of American music but I'd listen to the Temptations, Dolly Parton, or the Ronnettes any day. I finally started listening to rap mostly Biggie, Snoop, and Dr. Dre rounded out by P. Diddy and Mase. And currently j-pop and k-pop So my current is a culmination of styles from Big Band to modern.
