I also have a strong and largely inexplicable soft spot for any franchise where subsequent entries are better than the first.

And considering how good the first Portal game was, that sets the bar VERY high

Considering the second 1. Introduces a multiverse 2. Sets the game in the same universe as Half Life and TF2 3. Has incredible humor and game mechanics, its jumped entirely over the bar that was set. With a dimensional portal to space.
