I'd heard about reintroducing Orca, Killer Whales as a way to ward off the sharks.

where'd you hear?

Some research papers... during a particularly busy 'sharks season' one great white was attacked by a pod of killer whales. Then all of them scattered, preventing researchers from studying the sharks that year. One of those sharks, was said to have been so scared it swam half way across the world and was later found via GPS near Hawaii.
