During all four years of high school, I worked at a bar and grill called Custer's Burger Pit. Despite being a bit of a dive bar, it was apparent Custer had quite a bit of culinary skill and talent. Any time we weren't busy cleaning or cooking, he would be teaching me some new aspect of cooking. I never did find out where he learned the culinary arts.
Have you ever tried to impart some of these skills on a certain takeout-worshiping redhead?

Have you ever considered piloting a spaceship? And roughly how much do you think your wage might be?
I wouldn't dismiss the idea out of hand, but there's a number of factors I'd want details on first. Mission length/profile, crew size, known hazards, ship type, and objective, to name a few.

Also, I'd like to know if a lawn dart dropped from orbit would survive reentry, and if said experiment would be a war crime.

Would you ever buy yourself a personal plane? Would it be to collect or to charter, and what kind of plane would it be?

Would you ever buy yourself a personal plane? Would it be to collect or to charter, and what kind of plane would it be?
While I'd love to have my own plane, I think I'd be too torn by different mission profiles to choose just one, and would end up buying my own small personal fleet before sense caught up with me. Would I take the TBM 930 down to Panama City? The Grumman Goose up to Lake Tahoe? The Super Cub into any stretch of gravel I can find in the Sierra Nevada? Decisions, decisions...

There has always been one particular notion of a personal plane which has remained constant. I've always wanted to design an aircraft solely in the E-AB category. A smaller cruiser; fast, yet light and powerful enough to make it into small unimproved strips, and just large enough for two people and accompanying motorcycles. The idea of having your own vehicle in any destination city is pure luxury to me. On that note, I'd have to learn to ride a motorcycle.

What's the most uncomfortable place you've slept in (for a mission or otherwise)?
The Corps taught me very early on how to get sleep in the most difficult situation, from a pile of cargo nets on the deck of a carrier to firebases with constant armor and artillery. That said, the most uncomfortable places I've ever had the displeasure of sleeping are hospital beds. There's never a comfortable angle, no matter how much you fiddle with the controls. Any hope of actual comfort is non-existent as soon as your IV and oxygen remind you the slightest kink in the lines will set any number of machines screaming. The pulse oximeter line runs counter to any sane direction it should take when leaving the instrument, leading to hopeless tangles around your arm and the bed rails. Then there's always the well meaning but wet-behind-the-ears nursing assistant who takes 3 tries to get the IV started.

I love and respect our medical professionals. But hospitals are, without fail, the absolute worst places to sleep.

Did you dream of being a pilot as a child?
Short answer? Yes.

Slightly longer answer ties into a previous answer some. The town I grew up in had no road access. The only way in or out was by air or sea. Besides fishermen, the biggest inhabitant in town was the air force base. Our proximity to Russia meant there was always non-stop activity. Every single day there would be countless movements, both civil and military. Despite the economy of barging in goods and fuel, aviation was our lifeline and our only real connection to the rest of the world.

popularized by a Twitter account in 2010. It is named after the misunderstood giant in the 2003 film Big Fish. Older or alternative terms used locally include simply "the fog" or sometimes "Big Mama", Seasonal Names: It is often associated with the terms "June Gloom" or "Fogust" due to its prevalence in the summer months.

Did you know....the horns on the viking's helmets are a myth? The popular image of the "horned Viking" can be traced back to the 1870s. Costume designer Carl Emil Doepler created horned helmets for Richard Wagner’s opera cycle Der Ring des Nibelungen to enhance the characters' theatrical presence. (I BELIEVE in the Where in Time game, they tell us this too....)
