“Someone,” she spoke into her communicator, hoping that either Chase Devineaux or Jason West might intervene before a Junior Detective took it upon him or herself, “please disarm the suspects, post-haste.”
Hearing @Sophie's call Nace spoke up, "I fired that last shot. It was a warning shot to stop those two blokes in their tracks."

Then he quipped, "ACME is likely to be billed for a broke window at the local pet store and several rats on the lose as a result of it."

Julie, watching through her binoculars, was trying to remain calm, but now a little excitement was starting to creep into her voice,"One of the SUVs just cut off the the two other fleeing suspects...he just got out, and disarmed the two suspects...I think it's Jason."

Julie heard Sophie's voice come over the communicator, obviously filled with great concern for all of them,
Sophie said:
"Sophie, post: 2837, member: 11"]“Someone,” she spoke into her communicator, “please disarm the suspects, post-haste.”

Julie said,"Well..normally I don't like rodents...but these aren't the potentially disease carrying pests that hang around the barn back home in Ohio, and bother the animals. These are meant to be pets, and it's too bad that the lives of all those innocent four-legged rats have to be disrupted by 3 of the human ones." ;)

Nace had to chuckle at @Julie Justice's remarks.

"This is true, this variety of rattu rattu isn't that problematic at all. But I still have to smile about all the folks on the street that ran off screaming when they saw that swarm of rats come out of the shattered window." Nace replied.

"Something tells me that if this gets on the news I hope it doesn't find its way to South Africa, or my parents and my girlfriend aren't going to let me hear the end of it." Nace mused to himself as he kept scanning the streets below for any more threats.

Something told him that had to be a very unique shot in his career.

Still watching all the activity below with her binoculars Julie was glad that Nace appreciated her sense of humor. She couldn't help but smile a little as she said,"Well..I hope they don't hear about it is South Africa, then. But on the other hand...it would make a great story, wouldn't it? !!" :)

"It certainly would," Nace replied, "I might just say bollocks to it and tell Angela before she finds it on the news or something."

Nace continued to watch the street below as the JDs were handling their first suspects. Granted the instructors were doing the actual arrest and in all likelihood the arrests wouldn't be credited to the JDs, but it was a good experience for them nonetheless.

He spoke into his own headset, "I don't see any other threats in the area, but I'm still keeping an eye out."

With the threat level seemingly down Zack did a quick check of where everyone was. Ivy and Sophie looked like they had things handled with the downed man while Jason and Nace had the two suspects at gunpoint. By now some news vans were rearing up from the horizon. Checking his pockets, Monaghan found a pair of ACME issued plasti-cuffs which was part of the field kit. This was his chance, a real chance to make an ACME arrest.

"I got the cuffs! These guys are going to the big house!" He took a moment to rethink his one-liner, "No more Sonoran hotdogs for ten to life."

"Not so fast pip-squeak, I've got the cuffs," @Lee Jordan interjected, casually pushing the blond Junior Detective aside as one of the rats freed from the pet store scuttled by.

Even with his hero-envy of Jordan, Zack wasn't going to let this chance slide. He ran ahead, "I called dibs!"

"I have seniority."

"Actually, neither of you do," A stern reply came over the communicator from none other than Zack's sister (@Ivy), "hand the cuffs to an instructor before you accidentally let them get away."

With a nervous chuckle, Zack reluctantly gave the cuffs up to the nearest field instructor. Just in time as too, it was just as the press started to begin filming the scene.

Julie looked through her binoculars and said,"Well...it seems like Sophie and Ivy have everything under control treating the unconscious suspect ...although I can't tell from here if he's still unconscious or not. And it looks like Zack and Lee are arguing over who gets to arrest this last guy... typical of Lee Jordan..."

"Actually, neither of you do," A stern reply came over the communicator from Ivy, (@Ivy), "hand the cuffs to an instructor before you accidentally let them get away."

Julie couldn't help but smile a little when she heard Ivy's stern statement.

"Well, I guess it doesn't matter WHO arrests these guys...as long as we GET them!!," Julie said.

A moment later, Julie said, "Oh, look...I don't know if this is good or not..but it looks like the press is here..." :)

"Wanker," Nace smirked as he saw the Press.

He had to commend @Ivy for telling @Agent Z and @Lee to shut it and let an instructor do the actual arrest.

If either of the blokes decided to get aggressive he would put them down. No harm in thinking it, but he was resolved to protect his charges with everything he had, up to and including deadly force if it came right down to it.

Looks like Angela's gonna see this on the news anyway. Nace thought.

"It could be good or bad with the press being here." Nace replied to @Julie Justice.

With a nervous chuckle, Zack reluctantly gave the cuffs up to the nearest field instructor. Just in time as too, it was just as the press started to begin filming the scene.
As @Agent Z handed the flexcuffs to him, Jason keyed his communicator.

"Nace, cover me." Jason said as he holstered his Glock and stepped forward to put cuffs on the suspects.

"Oh God, not the press." Jason mumbled as he turned to escort the suspects to the nearest patrol car that had arrived.

"Oh, good,"said Julie, looking through her binoculars,"It looks like Jason is the one making the arrest."

As @Agent Z handed the flexcuffs to him, Jason keyed his communicator.

"Nace, cover me." Jason said as he holstered his Glock and stepped forward to put cuffs on the suspects.

Julie had enjoyed looking for clues, and chasing these criminals, and she was a little excited at the thought of catching them. But suddenly, she was a bit nervous, too; after everything they had been through, she knew that Nace had great abilities and expertise. But, this time, for all their sakes, she hoped that he didn't have to use it. :)

"Right," Nace said, hearing Jason's call over his communicator, "Already being done, bru."

The South African still had his hands on the pistol grip and handguard of his Saiga, just in case anything were to go wrong. He was confident enough to snap a round at any troublemakers with murderous intent if he had to. And that round would instantly end said troublemaker's murderous intentions.

"Keep an eye out to any of the crowd. If you see a weapon and it's not in the hands of a teammate or a policeman, let me know and I'll handle it," Nace told @Julie Justice.

Julie appreciated that Nace spoke to her with great authority; she found it reassuring, since she had never been in a situation like this before. She was glad to be helping Nace, even if it was in a small way; and she heard the kindness in his voice; and she knew that he trusted her to do her job.

"Oh, I will," Julie happily agreed, as she continued look through her binoculars, carefully searching the crowd. "We'll get these guys...one way...or another," she said. ;)

Nace nodded and said, "Thank you."

He only needed a small glance through the corner of one eye to see Julie was in fact, doing as he'd asked.

"Looks like the bloody news wankers will have this whole bit of the rats on the evening news," Nace commented as he caught a quick glance at the shattered pet store window where he'd fired the warning shot earlier.

I can only imagine if Angela or my parents saw this item on the sodding news somewhere, Nace thought. Wonder if I'd just better tell them the whole sodding tale.

Nace spoke into his headset again, "Right, I've got you lot doing the arrest covered. If anyone in the crowd has bad intentions you're assured I'll put the wanker down..."

((So... the latest is that the woman who reported the folks to the police, called the guy who handled the appeal (after we left the room) and told him that if he doesn't make sure to get the folks out of the building, she'd make things difficult for him. The property manager told ma a few days ago, and ma told me today. So, anyone know what that would be called? Coercing, bribery, influence peddling? Would that invalidate the eviction? This is Section 8 housing, so low-income housing. The appeal decision should in theory get here next week or maybe Friday, and they can appeal again, maybe this one would be in real court... don't know. I will advise the folks contact legal aid and see what they say.))

I stormed out of their place tonight (punched the call button for the elevator... they may have heard it), because I know they could win the second appeal hands down (they don't want "more of the stress from all this", they would discuss shit when I went to the bathroom tonight). I reminded them they may not get the entertainment center through the door to the apartment, we probably will have to take the claw legs off the table for the first time ever, but they have their heart set on it. ))

Did you know.....The original candy canes were straight sugar sticks that were often used to decorate Christmas trees. The first historical reference to the cane shape was in 1670, when the choirmaster at Cologne Cathedral in Germany bent the sugar sticks into the shape of a shepherd's staff. Candy canes remained white until the early 20th century when red stripes and peppermint flavor became popular.
