Julie Justice looked at Nace and said,"No, I went over there to ask Jason for that Glock that I had earlier at range, but I couldn't get his attention, and I didn't want to attract attention to us, under the circumstances. But if there's anything like that you can give me, I'd appreciate it."

Julie took the binoculars from Nace, and she didn't like what she saw. She tried to remain calm as she said,"There are 2 gunmen coming this way...one coming towards us...and one coming towards Jason...No...Wait... Chase was able to disarm one of them...and he is down...and the other 2 are going eastward on 2nd street...I think..." :)

"You got eyes on those two guys @Nace Bilby?" Jason asked as he began to make his way towards the SUV that had held @Chase, @Sophie, and @Lee.

"Chase, Sophie, Lee. You guys good over there?" Jason queried into his communicator as he made his way to the back of his SUV to pull out the GAP-10 in case he needed to help @Nace Bilby in stopping the other two suspects who were trying to make a run for it down 2nd Street.

"I've got eyes on." Nace said over the radio, "But the wankers are using the people as human shields. I'm not about to chance firing on them and hitting an innocent bystander."

Especially bad was that they were running along concrete. If he fired and missed or tried a warning shot that would probably result in a ricochet and injure someone.

"I don't have a shot...yet." Nace said over his headset, calmly answering @Jason West, "But if either of these two act remotely hostile and if I have a clear shot I'm putting them down."

Everything was happening quickly, and Ivy didn't even have time to get out of the driver's seat when the suspects barged out. From the adrenaline rush of seeing the man lying on the ground to the vehicular maneuver by their lead instructor, Ivy's first instinct was to pursue . Then, she wondered if Zack had ventured out of his SUV, and a slight sisterly panic set in.

There are 2 gunmen coming this way...one coming towards us...and one coming towards Jason...No...Wait... Chase was able to disarm one of them...and he is down...and the other 2 are going eastward on 2nd street...I think..."
"I don't have a shot...yet."
Still behind the wheel, she had the ability to at least attempt to cut them off.

"Permission to pursue?"

"Permission to pursue?"
This was the first thing Jason had heard from @Ivy over the communicator since everything had started. He was glad to hear that she was still safe and wanted to make an attempt to stop the fleeing suspects.

"Permission granted @Ivy. Stay safe. @Nace and I will try to cover you from here." Jason replied. He was willing to take a small risk if it meant apprehending the suspects.

“No,” Sophie Conrad interjected over the open communication channel to stop Nace Bilby, “No killing.”

Glancing around, she found Lee Jordan peering out of the backseat window, making a face at the felled suspect. “We’re good here in Vehicle Three,” she continued, addressing Jason West.

Thereafter passing the communicator to Chase, she returned her attention to the firearm she had picked up off the floor of the driver’s seat--the firearm their assailant had dropped. Methodically, she ejected the magazine from the Ruger SR9 and unloaded its chamber.

“They’re fleeing. Something’s more important than their friend,” Chase nodded to Sophie, then spoke into the communicator:

“Nace, give us directions. We might be able to cut them off somewhere,” his arm stung from the altercation and he rolled his shoulder to shrug it off.

“Take the car,” with a quick and critical glance at Chase’s arm, the young doctor grabbed her bag and hopped out of the SUV, “If Jason brings his around the corner, you might be able to box them in from--”

"Permission to pursue?"

The voice of Ivy Monaghan piped up from the communicator, interrupting, and Sophie lifted her head to give the Lead Instructor a frown of concern. The suspects were armed and, though she remained silent, she shook her head firmly to indicate that she did not approve of sending a Junior Detective--only first time out in the field--in pursuit.

"Permission granted, Ivy. Stay safe--

“Hold, Ivy,” the command from Chase punctuated through the open channel, “use indirect pursuit and report to us. Do not engage. I repeat, do not engage.”

“Go,” Sophie urged and stepped aside to allow Chase reentry into the vehicle, even as she pulled out her own communicator from the side-pocket of her bag.

“Have her come around the junction and look for me. I’ll need someone to watch him--” she nodded at the unconscious perpetrator, “--while I go to the man down in the front.”

Just then, the backseat window of the SUV descended with incongruous languidity and Lee popped his head out to chime: “I found it!” In his hands, he held a bundle of plastic cuffs.

Thus, with Chase Devineaux back at the wheel, the SUV grinded onto the tarmac and sped east on 2nd Street. Sophie turned away from the ensuing dust cloud, still watching the unmoving assailant--now bound at wrists and ankles--from the corner of her gaze. She opened a private channel to the Lead Instructor:

“This is about more than Kokeshi, yes?” her words were low and grave as she deposited the disassembled Ruger SR9 into a transparent evidence bag.

“I will call in the Albatross.”

“Have her come around the junction and look for me. I’ll need someone to watch him- while I go to the man down in the front.”
Being cut out of an active pursuit twisted her nerve, and Ivy bashed a fist against the steering wheel before compiling and trailing the suspect at a safer distance. In her hot-hotheadedness she failed to realize that she was still just a junior detective, with no real power of arrest, let alone ability to tackle an armed suspect. But those details were often washed away by the tide of adrenaline and the drive to prove herself.

"Copy," she finally said with slight disappointment.

The suspects seemed more busy with running than watching who was perusing him, almost as if they had an escape planned. However a large bag was slowing one of them down.

Grabbing her communicator Ivy relayed back, "The man in the leather jacket still has a firearm in hand... suspect with the ball cap is carrying a large blue bag."

With the way he clutched onto it, Ivy thought they might have emptied the cash register at the gas station. What else could he be risking his life for?

Before she could finish her thought the leather jacket man shot three rounds towards the detectives as warning shots. The bullets missed her vehicle by quite a distance, and she only saw them as flashes of light.

"Check in, is everyone ok?"

Julie continued to watch the developments with her binoculars, and saw one of the SUVs chasing one of the suspects who was fleeing in foot. Then she heard Ivy's voice say over the communicator.

"Check in, is everyone ok?"
Julie said, "Yeah, everything's OK, here...as long as they don't come back this way. Let me know if there's anything I can do to help." :)

"The man in the leather jacket still has a firearm in hand... suspect with the ball cap is carrying a large blue bag."

It's a good thing you're a lousy shot, wanker. Nace thought to himself, Otherwise I would send you to the Acheron's near shore.

Sophie's order had come over the comm not too long ago, but the bloke with the leather jacket only had the fact that he was a lousy shot preventing him from being taken down by precision rifle fire.

“No,” Sophie Conrad interjected over the open communication channel to stop Nace Bilby, “No killing.”

What Sophie had said went against every bit of military training he had as a sniper. Shooting to wound or warning shots weren’t anything he normally did. However this case was a bit different.

He swung the rifle ahead of the bloke with the leather jacket, aiming just ahead of him, towards the window of a nearby pet shop. That building was currently closed for the day and there was no one likely to be injured by his warning shot.

Slowly squeezing the trigger, letting air out as he did so he let the rifle ‘break’. With a crack the Saiga fired, sending a single .308 round into the pane of glass of the pet store window and shattering it directly in front of the man with the jacket. Several rats ran around the sidewalk immediately after the window’s shattering.

Hearing the crack of the Saiga, Jason quickly tossed the GAP-10 into the passenger seat and unholstered his Glock before jumping into the driver’s seat. He tucked the pistol between the center console and the driver’s seat as he started the SUV and threw it in gear. Jason sped off down a side street to get ahead of the suspects undetected to cut off their escape route.

"Rats!" Zack yelled as the squeaky little beasts came rushing into the streets.

He couldn't help but find a little humour in the situation, even if bullets were being fired.

"Glad to know you're okay, @Julie Justice. Looks like things are getting heated." he said over the radio to the detective.

For a training exercise this sure was becoming an exciting day. Zack saw @Jason West running ahead to cut the suspects off and he was sure @Chase was going after them too. With @Nace and @Julie Justice as overwatch, and @Ivy and @Sophie busy with the injured man, he didn't really know where to put himself. Still, the young detective couldn't just sit around dallying.

Grabbing a helmet and a bullet proof vest, the teen took his skateboard and followed @Jason, hoping that the wheels would lend him some speed. It might be useful to have four hands to tackle a suspect afterall.

With a sharp intake of breath at the sound of gunshots, Sophie Conrad lifted her head towards the length of 2nd Street. From her angle, she could not ascertain the origin of discharge, but relief exhaled when various members of the team began to report their safe statuses across the open communication channel. She was rechecking the binds on the suspect she was guarding, gingerly rolling him onto a side-lying position, when the crack of a singular shot—one of a higher calibre than the first few shots—rang out. Inadvertently, she raised her gaze to frown in the general direction of where she estimated Nace Bilby might have positioned himself. She did not believe that he had actually shot anyone, but she wondered all the same.

“Someone,” she spoke into her communicator, hoping that either Chase Devineaux or Jason West might intervene before a Junior Detective took it upon him or herself, please disarm the suspects, post-haste.”

Then, she paused to nod at the approaching vehicle, its windscreen fronted by a scowling teenager. A personal dust-cloud in its wake, the SUV halted a few metres away and Ivy Monaghan climbed out.

“Ivy,” Sophie managed a small smile of reassurance as she stood from her stoop beside the unconscious man, “thank you for coming.”

There was little time left for other words.

“We’ll need to ensure his arrest…” she motioned lightly to the bound suspect, “…and call in the cavalry…” Showing the Junior Detective the contact on the screen of her communicator, Sophie instructed Ivy to open a hail to the one Eugene Grovington.

Jason finally saw that he was far enough ahead of the fleeing suspects to cut them off and quickly cut the wheel hard as he wrapped his hand around the grip of his Glock. He floored the SUV one more time and skidded to a stop just in front of the suspects.
"Weapons on the ground now!" Jason shouted as he took aim at the suspects with the Glock. The suspects, knowing they were outnumbered and outgunned, quietly complied as Jason stepped out to kick the guns away from the suspects.

"Suspects stopped and disarmed. I have two at gunpoint." Jason said into communicator.
