A day with agent West.

After spending the morning in her office catching up on paperwork, Julie decided she wanted to be around people. She went to cafeteria, where she had a nice lunch of a sandwich made from leftover meatloaf, some chips and a drink. As she ate her lunch, she heard a rumor that Jason West and Invader had found something interesting in the beach: a message in a bottle.

Julie left the cafeteria, heading back to her office, to make sure her ready bag was..well..ready, and that there was nothing else she needed. Since Julie's very small office is now fairly close to the the dorms, she stopped by, and and when she found the dorm that Detective Discovery was staying in she stopped in, and found the Junior Detective busy at one of the computer tables, looking up something at the computer...reading a book...and listening to something on headphones at the same time.

Julie put her hand on the Junior Detective's shoulder. Discovery was a bit startled, but turned to look and see that it was only her friend Julie Justice. Julie laughed a little, and said,"I'm sorry, Lucy, I didn't mean to scare you. I heard that Agent West and Invader discovered a message in a bottle on the beach earlier, and I thought I might go with them and check it out. Would you like to come, too?" :)

A smile crossed Lucy's face as she nodded shyly. She didn't want to miss this. Lucy made sure to turn everything off before joining her friend Julie in the hall.

Before walking down the hallway, Julie stopped and checked both her ready bag and her purse one more time, to make sure she had everything she thought she might need. She also made sure to lock the door to her office too.

"This might be a detective agency...and we might all be very capable detectives...or agents...or whatever...but I think it's still a good idea to lock the door behind you when you leave."

Julie and Detective Discovery begin to walk down the hall, and get in the elevator to go the Tech Department, Julie says,"It's OK if you're a little nervous. But eventually we all have have an adventure like this. And I know that you're still a little shy too, sometimes. But I think you already know Invader, and I promise, Agent West is very nice, too."

Julie and Detective Discovery went down the hall, and turned the corner. The door was open, and they could both see Jason West and Invader were both by the computer analyzing something. Julie knocked loudly on the door, saying,"Ummm...Hello...I heard that you two stumbled on an interesting mystery, and would like some help. I brought one of the Junior Detectives with me. Invader, you know Detective Discovery." :)

"Hello there, I am glad the two of you are tagging along." Kristine exclaimed. "I have no idea what we might find, however I am hoping for the best."

Kristine looked at the two of them with a slight smile, and wondered what they might find.

The doorway was not big enough for 2 people to just stand there, so Julie took a few steps forward. She stopped, and turned back, and said,"It's OK, Detective Discovery, come on in."

"This very interesting," Julie said. "Tell us, what gave you found out so far?" :)

"Well there was a letter in a bottle, that led us to a military record, and a possible ship wreck." Kristine said in excitement. "Furthermore we might have found some places, where they might have made it to."

"I have coordinates to a couple possible locations that the man who wrote the note may have swam to. We'll have to take a boat to get there and I think my boat is probably the best one to take." Jason replied to the group.

Discovery stepped into the tech director's humble office and listened as everyone spoke. Hearing Jason mention taking a boat to find the man sounded like a fun trip and Discovery was excited to go, but it made her wonder. "Agent West, you think he could have survived out there all this time exposed to the elements like that, without any food or fresh water?"

"Being that he was in Vietnam and the locations that he he could have made it to after the wreck, he very well could have survived. All he would have to do to have some form of drinking water would be to boil it and there might have been birds or even vegetation that was safe for him to eat." Jason replied.

"Oh this sounds rather exiting." Mused Kristine."What an adventure this is going to be."

She was rather happy to have some company, other than west on the trip.

((So... the latest is that the woman who reported the folks to the police, called the guy who handled the appeal (after we left the room) and told him that if he doesn't make sure to get the folks out of the building, she'd make things difficult for him. The property manager told ma a few days ago, and ma told me today. So, anyone know what that would be called? Coercing, bribery, influence peddling? Would that invalidate the eviction? This is Section 8 housing, so low-income housing. The appeal decision should in theory get here next week or maybe Friday, and they can appeal again, maybe this one would be in real court... don't know. I will advise the folks contact legal aid and see what they say.))

((Correction: the parents are caving, they are planning for the move ON January 1st, without waiting to hear what the appeal decision is, and not willing to fight it. I stormed out of their place tonight (punched the call button for the elevator... they may have heard it), because I know they could win the second appeal hands down (they don't want "more of the stress from all this", they would discuss shit when I went to the bathroom tonight). I reminded them they may not get the entertainment center through the door to the apartment, we probably will have to take the claw legs off the table for the first time ever, but they have their heart set on it. ))

They're set on a two bedroom apartment ($154 more than the current, at least), it's up to me if I want to move, they said. Once we leave this place (section 8/low-income housing, the waiting list is over 2 years), that's it... the building manager retires later 2025... she pulled a string to get me in here))

Did you know.....The original candy canes were straight sugar sticks that were often used to decorate Christmas trees. The first historical reference to the cane shape was in 1670, when the choirmaster at Cologne Cathedral in Germany bent the sugar sticks into the shape of a shepherd's staff. Candy canes remained white until the early 20th century when red stripes and peppermint flavor became popular.
