They talked about Irish nad German immigrants being key in forming the American New England accent, and would have been naturally the 'correct' English-accent, while the Received Pronunciation was more 'fabricated' -- always did wonder if there was more. @Jacqueline Hyde

@Chase but the thing is, the american accent has changed just like the british accent has. accents always change over time.
