my sis has constantly been trying to talk me down 'cause it gets my anxiety WAY up. She has to assure me nothing's going to happen.

November 30 last year, there was a significant earthquake where I live. A 7.1. It gave everyone around here legitimate fear for their life.

The port of Anchorage, which handles %90 of all groceries and goods coming into Alaska, was shut down for a solid week.

We were already running up against fuel shortages, and there were rumblings of food shortages towards the end of that timeframe.

yes they talk about that......

 

[Lucy]

riots....food shortages....the electric grid has gone down

 

[Lucy]

it's everybody for themselves.

 

[Eugene]

Except it wasn't.

and you know what @Eugene and @Chase ? When I asked my father if it's true all he would tell me was "That stuff is going to get you killed."

or my uncle said "We're not allowed to talk about that. We're bound by contract."

That event and the ensuing fallout caused the community to pull together in ways I couldn't have imagined. Those 'preppers' sent out open invitations and tried to help as many people as they could, because they had the ability to provide that help.
