For dragonflies, you can just kill a black fly and hold it in your hand. One will invariably land on you and take advantage of the free meal.

How does one kill the black fly in the first place?

I have an electrified fly swatter. It looks like a tennis racket with a steel mesh, and the flies make a very satisfying crackling noise.

Alternatively, you can crush them or just hit them hard enough to daze them.

Same, those things are great.

I was sitting outside one summer day and it just came up and landed on my leg.
