Some successful projects, most not so much.

Which projects are you running?

The biggest one is a pseudo-doppler radio direction finder kit. The club asked me to get it up and running.

Nice, sounds like a fun hardware gig.

It's proving to be a gigantic pain. I committed violent atrocities with a soldering iron this evening, and didn't make much headway.

That sounds almost exactly like me and a soldering iron.

I have succeeded in mostly making droplets of metal

Hold on, you actually have to make one? I thought there are pre-built parts you could frankenstein together.

 

[Eugene]

to be fair, I was pushing my equipment way too far. My skills are with small surface mount stuff, not brazing an antenna to a board.

 

[Eugene]

Yeah. This kit was just the electronics. You have to assemble the switch board and antenna array yourself.

 

[Eugene]

but at least I got the oled screen soldered and running before I got too irritated.
