I took a while researching, but once I got hass.io going, it was a matter of fitting in modules. You can check it out, it's the URL: hass.io

(I'm doing this one as a volunteer gig for my amateur radio club. Plus, I can tell my manager would absolutely lay me off right now if he could.)

Proximity works for me because I have a full floor to myself, if I'm in an elevator going to my floor, I'm the only one with access at that point.

(Also, I sunk quite a bit of time into research before settling on mqtt and node-red as my solution.)

Only problem is when I'm not home, sometimes lights refresh and turn on and off -- wife doesn't like that.))

I want to see how the RFID works out for automation. I think you're almost starting from scratch?

Close, but not quite. Once I found some keywords, I was able to find a handful of examples.
