[Lucy]

“The creative adult is the child who survived.” - Ursula K. Le Guin

[Jade]

You must never be fearful about what you are doing is right. -Rosa Parks, African American civil rights activist [February 4, 1913, to October 24, 2005]

I love this quote and will keep repeating it.

"Speak softly and carry a big stick." Theadore Roosevelt

[Lucy]

If people bring so much courage to this world the world has to kill them to break them, so of course it kills them. The world breaks every one and afterward many are strong at the broken places. But those that will not break it kills. It kills the very good and the very gentle and the very brave impartially. If you are none of these you can be sure it will kill you too but there will be no special hurry.”

― Ernest Hemingway, A Farewell to Arms

Here some quotes from Dolly Parton because she passed away today... (January 19, 1946-August 25. 2026/I don't own these quotes whatsoever)

1. Find out who you are and do it on purpose.
2. You'll never do a whole lot unless you're brave enough to try.
3. I'm a very positive thinker, and I think that is helps me in the most in difficult moments.

To any TECS members who are big fans of Dolly Parton these quotes are wise from her words not mine.

[Lucy]

R.I.P. Dolly Parton!

To TECS members who are big fans of Star Trek: The Next Generation and/or Star Trek: Picard (even any Star Trek movies that feature Picard) here are some quotes from Patrick Stewart as Captain Jean-Luc Picard [July 13, 1940-October 28, 2026]

1. It takes more. Open your mind to the past. Art, history, philosophy. And all this may mean something. [ST: TNG: Samaritan Snare: while talking to Wesley Crusher]

2. Trust requires time and experience. [ST: TNG: First Contact/not the movie but the episode]

3. ...communication is a matter of patience, imagination. [ST: TNG: Darmok]

4. The past is written, but the future is left for us to write, and we have powerful tools: openness, optimism and the spirit of curiosity. [Star Trek: Picard: Broken Pieces: in which he is talking to Rios]

5. Seize today for we know nothing of tomorrow. [Star Trek: Picard: The Star Gazer]

6. ...even in the darkest circumstances, there is a light. Sometimes only a glimmer. Trust that light. Find a way back. No matter what it takes. [Star Trek: Picard: Two of One: while talking to Renee Picard, a descendant of Jean-Luc Picard]

7. There are moments in our lives we fear to relive and others we long to repeat. While time cannot give us second chances, maybe people can. [Star Trek: Picard: Farewell]

(Anyway, I don't own the quotes, the TV shows or the movies even the character, Jean-Luc Picard whatsoever)
