[Zombie Apocalypse] N'Orleans to CEDA

[Sophie]

There was a light shower of sparks as a door swung open and Stila lifted the extinguisher in her hands, ready to smash her way through any more disjointed bodies, but the hallway was empty. A sudden roar sounded from above--and she knew those were not from the helicopters.

"Come on!" she screamed above the approaching din, "Up's out!" Scrambling out into the empty hallway just as the animated corpses, she made for an adjacent stairwell and scampered back down.

"Where do--" she slammed the end of the extinguisher into a body, "they--" and another, "come from!" The third body fell and Stila pulled the pin of the extinguisher to empty half its contents on the fourth.

 

[Ivy]

“Ella Jean? Hot damn, I used to have your picture on my school lunch boxes!” Mercy gushed, “I’m Mercy, and this is… Kenyiro No-English.”

Something upstairs made a ruckus and soon the Texan saw exactly what it was. Some redneck with a chainsaw and his lady friend with a fire extinguisher had just fended off some of the infected.

They made it clear that the roof was no longer an option, Mercy remembered that her travel agent had told her that the Civil Emergency and Defense Agency would be a safe place to go if things get out of hand, “Var’mits are all on the roof! We all need to get ourselves a vehicle and head to CEDA up north. Any of ya’ll know if there’s a garage in this hotel?”

 

[Chase]

He comprehended that this Ella Jean was the same girl in the posters on the lobby’s walls, but the Japanese said nothing. With the introduction of two additional members to their group, a change of plan seemed to be brewing. Something about cedar? Is that a hotel suite?

The sound of grating footsteps and whining roars from overhead indicated that advancing to the roof may be unsafe from so close to ground level. Then he heard American girl say ‘Garage’ and understood where that was.

“Down?” he suggested, hinting to an elevator shaft, this one led him directly to the carpark before.

 

[Patty]

“My Limo!” Ella shouted, “Hope that elevator’s working!”

Pressing the button and hearing an immediate ‘ding’ Ella rushed in and urged the others of the group to do the same before more crazies hit them. She thought it was probably a good idea if they stuck together. As soon as they reached the basement, the multi-talented actress grabbed a pink swarovski crystal encrusted key and fob from the valet rack.

“I’m not driving… who’s driving?”

 

[Lee]

Being from backcountry, Hank had been listening to Ella Jean’s music since he was a tyke. He’d hoped to see her perform live here too, but ticket purchasing was always beyond his understanding. And the Bayou way was that if there weren’t no way to understand it, you don’t do it at all.

Next to her was an All-American pan-holding princess and a Chinaman that looked like he hopped out of a kung-fu movie. They must all be famous.

“Gosh, Ella Jean,” he whispered a little to the medic lady while they were in the elevator, “her music speaks to my soul.”

When they got down, he was suddenly interested in the sparkling key to Miss Jean’s ride.

“I can drive,” he replied to Ella Jean, “A limo’s like a normal car? Chinaman can shotgun, cuz his kind drives on the other side like yo, he all’s used to that.”

 

[Sophie]

Pushed along by Hank, Stila relinquished the trusty fire extinguisher and scampered into the limousine after a Texan lilt and a blonde she recognised as Ella Jean. Key in ignition, the vehicle rumbled to life and wended out of the garage.

"Pontchartrain!" Stila called out Hank, "CEDA set up a base at the N'Orleans Arena. It was still functional when I checked in last night."

As she spoke, she undid the straps that had bound her kit to her and looked at the two women seated nearby, "I have the vaccinations." Breaking a vacuum seal, she extracted a prefilled syringe, "Who's first?"

 

[Ivy]

“Me!” Mercy stuck out her arm for the vaccine, seeing as she was sitting right next to the doctor-scientist-lady.

Relieved that she was now safe from the infection, Mercy searched for items to fortify the limo. Under her seat she found a strange metal box with several semi-automatic pistols and accompanying ammunition.

“Guess we’ll be needing these.” She passed the firearms to each able member of the team, “Try and conserve the ammo, we don’t know how many of them infected we’ll see.”

Standing, she peered out of the limousine’s skylight. Luckily the road ahead was relatively clear.

 

[Chase]

It was illegal among some Samurai sectors to sheath a bloody Wakizashi. Dakamura followed tradition at the expense of his suit. In the elevator, he took off his jacket, used the inner lining of silk to wipe the weapon clean, and placed it back into its covering.

Next, he wasn’t too keen about being called ‘Chinaman’, but being in New Orleans meant adjusting to the strangest things like alligator meat and people who look like they were always in need of better hygiene.

Keniryo nodded at ‘Shotgun’ and took a seat next to the driver.

Then needles were presented and the women received their shots, Dakamura wondered briefly on what it was before he was asked to give his arm. After receiving the vaccine, he was given a needle to administer a dose to the redneck.

Military helicopters flew overhead, foreshadowing future events. He was in this country as a diplomat from Osaka, at the juncture, he was likely going to be sent back to Japan without much fuss.

 

[Patty]

Ella never really worried that anything bad was going to happen. Famous people didn’t die like this anyway, but she was glad these people made her life easier. It was like an ensemble cast with her as the star, just the way life should be.

“Hey, why are we slowing down?” she asked aloud, but was soon answered when she saw some hunky looking army men tap the glass, “We’re saved!”

Despite not getting the jelly doughnut this morning, Ella thought everything else couldn’t have gone better. How could she ever think of publishing her autobiography so soon? Obviously it has to be pulled off the shelves now that she could add a zombie survival chapter to it.
