[Lucy]

If you think you are beaten, you are.
If you think you dare not, you don’t.
If you like to win but think you can’t,
It’s almost a cinch you won’t.
If you think you’ll lose, you’re lost.
For out in the world we find
Success begins with a fellow’s will.
It’s all in the state of mind.
If you think you are out classed, you are.
You’ve got to think high to rise.
You’ve got to be sure of your-self before
You can ever win the prize.
Life’s battles don’t always go
To the stronger or faster man.
But sooner or later, the man who wins
Is the man who thinks he can.

Lucy, that poem would have teach Lee Jordan a lesson when he was trying to prove as a criminal that he's better than Carmen Sandiego, then again, I've figure Chase Devineaux taught him a lesson with his own lectures.

A Winter Branch

There’s a branch that twists against the wind
Refusing the gentle pull of sky.
It snaps a little when the rain comes,
Yet still it reaches, stubborn, high.

The sun warms all, but it shuns the light,
Holding shadows close like a cloak.
A bird lands briefly, then flutters away,
Shaken by the sharpness it spoke.

Still, there’s a strange beauty in its defiance,
A wildness that cannot be tamed.
And though it bruises the touch,
It is never quite the same.

• runs a scam in Scandinavia
• sticks ‘em up Down Under
• pickpockets Perth
• puts the “miss” in “misdemeanor”
• steals the beans from Lima
• glides around the globe
• flim-flams every nation
• is a double-dealing diva with a taste for thievery
• has an itinerary loaded up with moving violations

That’s not your girl, that’s Carmen Sandiego. Call the Acme Detective Agency immediately.

Reminds me of Rockapella singing Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego? on PBS from 1991 to 1995 then later when you win the game of Carmen Sandiego: To Steal or Not to Steal on Netflix.

Lines on a Map

A map is only paper,
A collection of lines and names,
Yet somehow it can carry
A thousand distant dreams.
A river becomes a question,
A mountain becomes a dare,
A tiny dot upon the coastline
Whispers, "Come see what's there."
I've wandered through atlases,
Crossed oceans with my eyes,
Followed winding highways
Beneath imagined skies.
I've stood beside great landmarks
Without leaving my chair,
Traveling through stories
To places everywhere.
For every road completed,
Another one appears,
Stretching toward the horizon
Beyond familiar years.
The world is vast and waiting,
Its wonders never cease.
And every new discovery
Adds another piece.
So hand me a map and compass,
A mystery to pursue,
For every corner of the planet
Has something new to teach me too.
