Some of these poems are mine, others are not. But I wanted to start something about how I feel. Others are welcome to put theirs in.

If the mountain seems too big today then climb a hill instead.
If the morning brings you sadness, it's okay to stay in bed.
If the day ahead weighs heavy and your plans feel like a curse, there's no shame in rearranging; don't make yourself feel worse. If a shower sting like needles and a bath feels like you'll drown, if you haven't washed your hair for days don't throw away your crown. A day is not a lifetime, a rest is not defeat. Don't think of it as a failure, just a quiet, kind retreat. It's okay to take a moment from an anxious, fractured mind. The world will not stop turning while you get realigned. The mountain will still be there when you want to try again. You can climb it in your own time. Just love yourself till then.

To: My friend Ouida

We shared laughter and art
who would have thought
our paths would cross

Providing encouragement
and lending heart
everyone needed

none could have guessed
how short your time.

You broke our hearts
when you went flying
with angels

We celebrate your life
with tears
and memories

“I now understand that focusing on the past or future mindlessly is a waste of time. All that matters is how well I’m able to experience what I’m doing now.”

Did you hear about the rose that grew
from a crack in the concrete?
Proving nature’s law is wrong it
learned to walk with out having feet.
Funny it seems, but by keeping it’s dreams,
it learned to breathe fresh air.
Long live the rose that grew from concrete
when no one else ever cared.

My Heart

Heart soaring
Above the clouds
Many scars it has
Wear them proud

Cruel world
Doesn't slow it
Often being hurt
Or let down
too big for the world

Protective of friends
And family
To the very end

Holding secrets
Of past and present
naysayers
And non believers
Trying to let go
And be positive

Shy to new things
Slow to open up
Anxiety's friend
And confidont

Follows depression
into an infinite black hole
Friends help to avoid the void
And soon laughter follows
The spirit lifts

And all seems right
In the world again

The past is the past for a reason.
That is where it is supposed to stay,
But some cannot let it go.
In their heads, it eats away.
Until all their focus becomes
The person they used to be,
The mistakes they made in their life.
Oh, if only they could see
That you cannot change what happened,
No matter how hard you try,
No matter how much you think about it,
No matter how much you cry.
What happens in your lifetime
Happens for reasons unknown,
So you have to let the cards unfold.
Let your story be shown.
Don’t get wrapped up in the negative.
Be happy with what you have been given.
Live for today, not tomorrow.
Get up, get out, and start living,
Because the past is the past for a reason.
It’s been, and now it is gone,
So stop trying to think of ways to fix it.
It’s done; it’s unchangeable; move on.
