Of course I'm not going out in the pandemic, but I'm taking the downtime to study up on some of the United States' greatest little white fibs....

My first obje' du examine' is quite famous along the locals due to its bright yellow wooden signs posted all along Interstate 10, about 247 in all, stretching from El Paso to the state the the quote-unquote tourist attraction is. This is more than likely the origin of thousands of made up "tourist trap" destinations you frequently see in the media. Sadly, no amount of hype could possibly prepare you for looking at....whatever this is...in the heat of the desert sun.

Okay, second one.

Ever hear that old line "George Washington slept here?" Well, this site contains a plaque that states Ronald Reagan ate here, at this well known fast food franchise after giving a speech in a nearby university 1984. Actual eyewitnesses claim the President didn't actually know what to order, and whispered to his aide for a little help. The original plaques are no longer at the site and are instead sealed off in a nearby museum.

That is correct! Moving on....
Most interesting about this next stop is that it is actually more admired by the locals than the tourists, although it got national recognition from a popular animated series. It was established as a national landmark about a year after. Its chief feature: a 3 story tall indoor waterfall with regular cliff-diving shows throughout the day. Anyone who goes there says the food they serve is garbage, and it smells like a wet dog, but they love, it and couldn't imagine the city without it.
