well it makes terroist groups really easy to exist an en environment where a specific country's troops roll in and out for ten years.

or a big game of risk, yes. though i would guess it's less about the geographic distance and more about the personal distance. war doesn't mean much when your daddy faked you a disability to get you out of the draft.
