I'm thinking of a celebration.
By that, I mean some sort of festival, an important event or occasion, by which humans gather to engage in enjoyable, typically social, activity.

Rules:
  • You have 11 questions (in total, not each).
  • They must all be yes/no questions.
  • First correct answer closes the game.
  • If the game hits 11 questions with no correct answer, the game also closes.

does it involve parades and flashy costumes?
No, it does not feature a parade or flashy costumes.

Is it celebrated on the same date every year?
While it's held at around the same time each year, it spans a few days and does not have exact dates each year.

Is it the start of a religious period?
No, it does not have anything to do with religion, and is probably more 'cosmetic' than most festivals.

Is it celebrated in just one country/culture?
Yes, it is. Only this one country in the world has this festival, but anyone can join, really, and it's quite popular among the western population of this country. (Big hint that it's an Eastern festival.)

popularized by a Twitter account in 2010. It is named after the misunderstood giant in the 2003 film Big Fish. Older or alternative terms used locally include simply "the fog" or sometimes "Big Mama", Seasonal Names: It is often associated with the terms "June Gloom" or "Fogust" due to its prevalence in the summer months.

Did you know....the horns on the viking's helmets are a myth? The popular image of the "horned Viking" can be traced back to the 1870s. Costume designer Carl Emil Doepler created horned helmets for Richard Wagner’s opera cycle Der Ring des Nibelungen to enhance the characters' theatrical presence. (I BELIEVE in the Where in Time game, they tell us this too....)
