Sadly, I kind of agree with @Lucy. It takes a hell of a lot to overtake the status quo, and I think people underestimate that. In all aspects of life, not just politics.

well, the need for french democracy is marked somewhat by an event where the aristocriacy was pulled into town squares and beheaded.

There's no point in voting anymore. It's the ones with the most money that get into politics.

we are the sum of our history, and American History leaves a lot of areas where we should be pretty afraid

I know many who are rather jealous of the lifestyle of the 'American capitalist billionaires.'
