if i understand correctly, several states' aren't. here in mass, you have to choose between a regular driver's license and a real id one.

yes, you can do everything but board a plane

in 2020 (?) in order to board a domestic flight, you'll have to have either a real id-compliant license or a passport

I was offered that option as well. Way it was told to me is you can only have one REAL ID but more than one state ID

for instance, if a driver's license were revoked, I would still have a form of ID

REAL is also required for entering a military base

although i have a passport, i went for a real id anyway, as it's the same cost here, and it makes one less thing to carry.
