I go here first thing almost every morning when I'm in Paris. I was just there this morning too.

I remember while touring the Notre Dame it some years back, wedges between the stone were 13th-century wood, because the builders could not always fit stones into place.

I'm sure this is why the fire spread so quickly as well.

i can't believe it. this feels like something that happened to ancient landmarks. the sort of thing that doesn't happen anymore. god.

When I saw the spire fall, my heart literally hurt.

It's awful. Is all of Ile de la Cite being evaccuated?

Yeah, the entire island.
