Baseball goes Crazyball!?

All the players were assembled and the commercial break was over, now all they had to do was defend baseball civilization from those who would take it away. World leaders were a little upset that the first invasion that they missed and were rumored to be wondering how a family of talking dogs held them off. The fans were as expected taking as many photos as they could, its not everyday you get treated to an alien invasion and in vintage flying saucers no less.

Once final preparations were made Team ACME/VILE did the expected slow motion walk forward for cinematic effect. And took their positions apparently the aliens would be outfield focused and trying to strike the team out not just by getting strikes but by having the team fail to hit certain goals. But Team ACME/VILE was unfazed and ready to play ball.

First up to bat was Zack as he dug in all he saw was a pitching machine on the pitchers mound. It started sending pitches to Zack who kept hitting them Suddenly after three pitches the aliens body burst up out of the ground and started throwing pitches with his arm. Zack surprised said, “And I thought the day couldn’t get weirder.” Now Zack had to hit the ball and run the bases like normal. The alien was throwing pitches well but Zack slammed his bat into the ball and then ran around the bases doing the funky rubber chicken dance he created as he crossed home plate.

Lars Vegas was next and he activated the slot machine reels on his bat they landed on triple 7’s which meant his bat would give extra hitting power. Kylie commented, “Maybe we shouldn’t be surprised Lars has a loaded bat after complaining about a loaded ball.” Lars dug in and had to hit a floating target off in the distance to score enough points. Of course with a powered up bat that becomes a bit easier. He successfully hit most of the targets and walked away saying, “Hittin‘ Jackpots Is easy when your Lars Vegas!” Greg commented, “They’re called home runs Lars now back to you Kylie!”

Kylie was down on the field interviewing the players and fans about the situation unfolding. She asked Tenchi, “Your up next Tenchi, what are you going to Do about your targets that they set up, they are stacked one after the other? And how are we going to defeat the alien menace?” Tenchi confidently replied, “I’m going to defeat any pitch they throw and well going to defeat them with team work and fair play.” Vic disgusted yelled, “Team work fine; fair play not so much!” Tenchi went up to bat and the first thing he had to do was hit the ball through a series of targets that would shatter upon being hit.

Steadying himself he waited for the pitch and sent a well aimed hit through all the targets. The inning closed out with the aliens ramping up the difficulty, the next inning wouldn’t go so smoothly if they could help it. They took the mound and lined up horizontally. One of them would randomly pitch a ball then another, They would vary their pitch speed and try to strike the batter out. First Double started things off by trying to hit all the balls knowing Coach Brute was watching. The batting rhythm was hard but Double managed to pass with two strikes against him.

“Their stealing my attention.” She mutters

Tatyana fared a little better, though her Russian outbursts could be translated with subtitles as she was quite upset at the unfair strategies being used. But she managed to succeed with one strike against her. Baron Wasteland made short work of them however his oil splattered in the faces of some of the aliens as the balls he hit flew over them. This led to another inning won by Team ACME/VILE. The aliens were supposed to be packing it in at this point but decided to bring their saucers down and force the team to surrender. The whole team came onto the field and started hitting pitched baseballs targeting their ships, which ironically were weak to baseballs.

When they sustained enough damage they beamed up their alien passengers and flew off the field one by one. The aliens proclaimed they had lost but this was not the end, the baseball equipment would be theirs one day, and off they flew back to their planet. The crowd cheered and the Team ACME/VILE waved to them. Then Greg and Kylie informed the viewers at home, Greg yelled, “We did it folks, we beat the alien menace! Our baseball cards are safe and sound!” Kylie said, “While this is a momentous occasion we have to remember not to take our sports for granted Greg. And now back to the game. Hey! That means you Team ACME/VILE the alliance is over, get back to the game. We already lost three innings because of that invasion so make the most of it guys!”

The team split back into their like groups and resumed playing ball. However as Kylie said, three innings had passed and they entered the 6th inning. As VILE was batting it was all business as usual. Remembering what Kylie had said about taking baseball for granted, VILE made sure to steal as many bases as they could; literally. But ACME made sure to stop them and return the bases to their proper locations. The inning ended and the score was still tied 3-3.

The 7th inning stretch had finally arrived and ACME was excited because of the 2/3rds show Fireworks started going off and Greg and Kylie started the show off. Greg enthusiastically said, “Were here for the 2/3 show in Dodger Stadium ladies and gentlemen with Rockapella coming straight to you!”...

Vic the Slick was not amused with the fanfare mostly because as he put it baseball doesn’t have 2/3rd shows. But other than that the show was a complete success. The 7th inning was filled with ups and downs; mostly because the helium balls Ivy threw kept lifting batters off the ground ACME pulled ahead by two runs, But VILE toughed it out and gained three. It was a back and forth battle through the 8th inning as well, and Tenchi had to deal with very aggressive batting by Robo-Crook. But he was sent Back to the scrap heap in the VILE dugout. VILE was in good spirits as the 9th inning began they were winning.

I think the bats would prefer it if you don’t bat them ferret.
