[Jason West]

After taking a quick peek in his classroom, Jason made his way down to the main reception area to meet the other instructors as well as the new and returning detectives that he would be teaching. Jason hoped that the Junior Detectives would be interested in the classes he had prepared for them.

As Jason entered the reception area, he noticed a few small groups had already formed and debated which group would be the better choice for him to approach. The first group had a few faces that he recognized but assumed that they didn't know who he was. This group had both Monaghan children (@Ivy @Agent Z ) and ACME's own @Lee Jordan. The group also included someone who Jason couldn't seem to place but the guy looked like a pilot(@Eugene ). In the second group, Jason noticed a young girl(@Elsa ) seemingly interested yet scared of the German Shepherd puppy that was near the feet of what appeared to be a decorated military man (@Nace Bilby ).

 

[Lee]

Ivy rolled her eyes at her brother’s adoration and Lee Jordan’s inflated ego. “Zack, I know you like being wide eyed, but try not to drool.”

"Good tips for your kid brother, Sparks," Lee made up a random nickname on the spot for @Ivy and was proud of himself a bit, then he turned back to Zack, "She's your sister? Sheesh. What is that even like?"

While talking to the new squirt, Lee was also looking around to see which teachers he could get close with this summer before he finally graduates to an ACME Detective. He made a note to talk to @Jason West, whose class was going to help Lee finish his final requirement in Technology, and then @Nace Bilby with the german shepherd and some gruff looking pilot guy (@Eugene) who looks like he already does most of his shaving in a low lit hangar.

 

[Sophie]

It had taken Sophie Conrad all of twenty-two minutes to walk from where she was now living to the headquarters of ACME, its sapphirine glass tower already visible from far away. The bright-eyed medical student of twenty-six had come to the University of California San Francisco on an exchange from Harvard Medical School. She was to spend a semester in the city and had volunteered to instruct at ACME with recommendation from the UCSF faculty.

Printing her details in neat, uniformly-sized handwriting, she thanked the receptionist, ‘Lorraine’, and received a security pass and an ACME communicator unit. The first, she clipped to the front of her black-and-white swallow-print sweater; the second, she took a moment to turn around in her hands before walking away.

Easing through the surrounding crowd, she meandered towards a circle of leather seats. She sat down on one before switching on the handheld device, tapping lightly on its screen and buttons to orientate herself. The first display was a silver-coloured word: ‘Hello.’ on a all-black screen. As it faded away to reveal an index of functions, Sophie smiled.

Imbued with optimism at the electronic greeting, she raised her head to survey the environment and noticed the man seated opposite her. His elbows rested upon his knees and his grey-coloured cap was slightly askew so that his features were not shadowed. Reaching out a hand to close the distance between them, Sophie echoed the word she had just seen: “Hello.”

There was a pause as she assessed his possible demographic.

“My name is Sophie, Sophie Conrad.”

 

[Agent Z]

"She's your sister? Sheesh. What is that even like?"

Zack laughed in his jaunty way, then mumbled a quiet answer. Lee was so quick witted.

He could tell Ivy was not at all impressed, she had that indignant look on her face that she usually had when someone made a bad joke. Zack was usually that 'someone' but a lot of times with Ivy, dudes just tried to get on her bad side because it was easier to get her attention that way, not that it ever seemed to work. He wondered if Lee liked his sister... that would mean that he would be brother-in-law to Lee Jordan some day... and that would be so awesome.

Just out of the corner of his eye, Zack saw an intimidating-looking guy approaching (@Eugene). He was wearing a black bomber jacket and a button up shirt with some sort of dark pants, and because his badge was so similar to theirs the younger Monaghan wasn't sure if he was another student. If he was, he would be one of the few Junior Detectives to be carrying a pistol.

"Hey mister!" Zack greeted, "I'm Zack Monaghan. Are you one of our teachers?"

 

[Nace Bilby]

Nace regarded Elsa's question and then responded, "The twenty sixth floor."

Goliath barked again and Nace noticed Elsa's reaction. "Not a fan of canines are you?"

"If you want you can pet him." Nace said, before turning to Goliath and saying, "Sit."

The puppy sat down, panting, his tongue hanging out, cocking his head to one side.

"Just hold your hand out and let him sniff you before you pet him. Let's him get used to you."

 

[Chase]

“Hello.”
There was a pause as she assessed his possible demographic.
“My name is Sophie, Sophie Conrad.”

Chase looked up, made eye contact, and extended a hand in greeting.

“Yes, Sophie Conrad,” he smiled briskly, recognizing her as one of the summer’s instructors from her badge, “Harvard, right? I'm Chase Devineaux, we spoke briefly via emails.”

Within the handshake, Sophie raised an eyebrow at his introduction. The emails that had been exchanged prior were sufficiently formal and succinct in manner -- she had not expected their author to be so… young.

Then, she smiled in mirror of his expression: “It’s a pleasure to finally meet you, Mr Devineaux.”

Speaking to someone remotely was one thing, but to actually meet them was another. Her fitting wardrobe and vintage Cartier watch spoke volumes -- Traditional, modest, and likely someone who purposely holds on to the past.

“Just Chase,” he added, “If I may call you Sophie?”

“Yes -- Chase,” she nodded once, “‘Sophie’ will do. Thank you for accepting my application at such short notice.”

She turned her gaze, with ease, towards a scattered gathering comprised of mostly teenagers. “Are they the Junior Detectives?”

Following her eyes, he replied lightly, “Yes, not an unruly bunch, despite the noise they make.”

“No, not at all,” a twinkle crossed her gaze as she briefly sized up each expectant face.

In addition to the students, Chase espied Jason West, Nace Bilby, and even Eugene Grovington already in the lobby among new and graduating students. This was a great time for introductions, and he hinted towards the rest of the group.

“Should we greet the others?”

“Yes, please,” she shifted her stance slightly in readiness to move, “I look forward to meeting them.”

Leading the way into the mill of people and directly for a certain tanned individual who guarded his young German Shepherd, Chase beckoned for Eugene and Jason to join them.

“Nace Bilby,” he began with the man and his dog, “Sophie Conrad… And coming towards us is Eugene Grovington and Jason West.”

Devineaux pointed everyone out in turn, acquainting the group.

 

[Julie Justice]

A nice, smart woman from a small town in Northeast Ohio, Julie Justice had taken many different "aptitude" tests in an effort to try to find a career path, but so far, hadn't stuck with anything. One of the aptitude tests suggested that she try a career in law enforcement, and gave her a list of courses being offered in her area. One was an a new on-line course being given by the Midwest Office of the ACME Detective Agency. Of course, she had heard of the ACME Detective Agency. They are the law-enforcement organization that specializes in catching international criminals; especially Carmen Sandiego and her gang of VILE thieves. Julie had to admit that she had a certain admiration for this great female thief, and she began to think that perhaps she could be the one to catch this clever mastermind and make her answer for her crimes. After all, her name is Justice. So Julie took the on-line course, and passed it easily. She did so well, that it was recommended that she go and take some additional courses at the ACME Headquarters in San Francisco.

As Julie walks into the headquarters into the Lobby, she sees a young, blonde teenage boy with a skateboard (@Zack) talking to an older boy (@Lee) who says,"I'm Lee Jordan, and I am amazing." Julie *chuckles* a little bit. She can't tell if he's *serious* or not. As she walks into the Lobby, Julie Justice wonders if she should be here at all. She may look and act young, but the petite 34 year old with long, almost-black hair and dark brown eyes, finds herself surrounded by teenagers and young adults. As she walks through the Lobby, she sees a woman (@Elsa) *nervously* talking to a man with a dog (@Nace Bilby and his German Shepard puppy Goliath) but she *ignores* them. She walks a little more, and she sees a well-dressed, pretty woman (@Sophie) talking *intently* to a young man (@Chase) who seems to be "in charge." So Julie *goes up to him* and says,"Excuse me, sir. I think I'm supposed to be in this class for "Junior Detectives" but I'm not sure where that is. Can you help me?"

 

[Nace Bilby]

Nace hadn't yet met the man approaching him was, @Chase, but he could tell the man was in charge from the way he carried himself. Goliath turned his attention to both Chase, the pretty, well dressed young woman and two others (@Jason West and @Eugene Grovington) and barked.

"Excited to meet new people, are we." Nace said to his puppy and scratched the eager dog behind the ears before shaking hands with Chase, Sophie, Jason and Eugene.

"And this is Goliath, my dog. He's still a puppy right now, so he does have a tendency to get into things." Nace replied.

"So what brings you here?" he asked Sophie, Eugene and Jason in turn.

 

[Ivy]

Ivy shook off the fact that Lee Jordan called her 'sparks' though another side of her was more than ready to throw a chair in his general direction. She didn't need to get riled up, it seemed to her that without much prompting Zack was already latching onto another would-be role model.

The man who approached them had a relaxed stride, and appeared to be in his mid-twenties. Even within the first few seconds she noticed that he was of a larger build, and unconsciously sized him up--a habit formed from her competitive martial arts training. Despite him acting perfectly normal, something about his presence made her cautious.

"Hey mister!" Zack greeted, "I'm Zack Monaghan. Are you one of our teachers?"

Before she knew it, Chase Devineaux seemed to have called the man, along with a few others to join him.

"Seems like the 'teacher group' is over there," Ivy surmised. "Bet we can guess who will be teaching what."

 

[Agent Z]

Zack noticed that the teachers were starting to gather and that move forced the Junior Detectives gather together too. This allowed him to get a good look at everyone again, including the cute blonde girl he ran into earlier. She seemed to be a bit self conscious, as she hugged a big book. There weren't many people who bothered to carry around books for leisure these days, so he thought that was a bit odd. She was also pretty tall for someone who seemed to be a first time Junior Detective, and her messy short hair cut made her look even taller. Kinda like a chupa chup, Zack thought.

"Seems like the 'teacher group' is over there," Ivy surmised. "Bet we can guess who will be teaching what."

"I bet the one with the dog is the technology expert, and that guy with the tribal tats is our shooting instructor. He looks like he already has a few guns on him. " Zack started the game. "Our survival skills teacher is supposed to be named Sophie Conrad, so I think it's the lady with the red hair over there. And that buff guy who walked around here earlier, I bet he's the fine arts teacher. What do you guys think?"

[Julie Justice]

Julie Justice listened to the conversation between the young woman with the red hair, (@Ivy) and the younger blonde teenage boy with the skateboard(@Zack), and got the impression that they were brother and sister. She was older, and he was younger. But Julie was just happy to finally be around some people who seemed to know what was going on around here. Finally, Julie stepped forward and formally introduced herself. She said,"Hello, my name is Julie Justice. I took an on-line course at the ACME Midwest Office, and the suggested I come out here, and take a few more courses. So I guess I'm with the Junior Detectives for now. Other than that, I don't know very much yet."

 

[Jason West]

Hearing the familiar voice that belonged to @Chase Devineaux beckoning him, Jason turned and made his way over to the small group that began to form around Chase.

"So what brings you here?"

I'm here to teach a few Technology classes and possibly get some range time in as needed.
