(( I rebooted my OCS and started their lives from the beginning again.. enjoy))

The rain was pouring, and several henchmen held complaints about working in a heavy downpour. The wind whipped viciously against the men tightening the hoist system in the early morning. Carmen Sandiego stood under a flimsy tent with a wide smile stretched across her face. “Good job,” she laughed softly, her voice feeling like satin, yet she remained entirely unheard as the men continued their work.

They were busy hauling a massive satellite dish from the middle of nowhere, completely oblivious to the master thief watching them. She was entirely unbothered by the miserable weather, outfitted in a storm-ready adaptation of her signature look: a tailored crimson raincoat layered smoothly over her sleek black catsuit, paired with knee-length waterproof boots that cut cleanly through the mud. Her dark hair was gathered neatly in a messy bun, kept dry beneath a matching red rain hat that tipped just enough to cast her eyes in shadow as she enjoyed the chaos of the heist.

Her eyes sparkled with delight as a young man scrambled under the flimsy tent to escape the relentless downpour.

“Boss, what are we even doing?” a faint Irish accent rang out as he shivered miserably, wrapped in a navy blue cardigan over a brain-emoji long-sleeve shirt and soaked ripped blue jeans.

“Dr. Devlin Crooks, we need the satellite to transfer communication quicker,” Carmen explained smoothly. Without missing a beat, she smeared a bit of spit onto her fingers and leaned over to wipe a stubborn streak of mud off Devlin’s cheek. He cringed, feeling utterly grossed out as she cleaned him like a mother cat tending to a stray kitten, utilizing her fingers instead of a tongue while he stood trapped in his soggy layers

“Boss, you might catch leukemia,” he protested, shivering violently as he gripped the heavy steel hoist line alongside the crew.

Carmen chuckled, completely unbothered as she leaned against the tent pole. “That's not contagious.”

Devlin scowled, wiping a wet strand of hair from his forehead while trying to keep his footing in the mud. “But chemo is highly toxic!”

Carmen let out an exaggerated sigh, offering him a sharp, teasing grin. “If you're so terrified of airborne toxins, darling, maybe you shouldn't have volunteered to haul satellite parts in a hurricane. Nobody forced you to get out of the van and join the heavy lifting.”

Devlin shook his head, muttering something dark and heavily pharmaceutical under his breath as he turned his back on the heavy machinery and trudged back through the thick, sucking mud toward the vehicle.

Sliding into the passenger seat of the van, he wrapped his shivering arms tightly around his navy cardigan, pressing his forehead against the cold side window. Through the rain-streaked glass, his tired blue eyes watched as Carmen’s crew finally severed the last supporting cable and dismantled the massive Safelite dish, the metal structure groaning under the force of the wind.

He let out a long, ragged sigh, eyeing the dashboard heater longingly while wondering if his immune system was going to send him straight to the ICU by morning..

I remember what leukemia was...a form of cancer in the bone marrow, I remember reading a book called Sadako and the Thousand Paper Cranes based on a true story about a Japanese girl who suffers the disease and try folding a thousand paper cranes before passed away at twelve years old.

And I also remember watching a Charlie Brown animated special called Why, Charlie Brown, why?
about a girl named Janice Emmons who is a friend to Linus Van Pelt who suffers that but recover slowly by going for chemotherapy and treatment.

I suggest watching that special. [by the way, I don't own anything whatsoever]

Inside the van, the rhythmic drumming of the rain quickly lulled Devlin into a deep, exhausted sleep, his shivering frame finally going still against the cold glass.

Outside, however, Carmen’s sharp instincts suddenly flared. An ex-detective knows precisely when the chaotic noise of a storm is interrupted by something unnatural. She froze, standing entirely silent beneath her red rain hat, tuning out what the rest of the weary crew blindly assumed was just more rolling thunder and lightning. But her eyes scanned the horizon, catching no sudden flash in the dark sky.

“A gun is being fired,” Carmen whispered to herself, her expression hardening beneath the shadow of her brim. With a quiet, calculated grace, she slipped away from the equipment and melted into the dense tree line, determined to track down the source before it found them

.Her tall waterproof boots were caked and smeared with thick mud by the time she tracked the gunfire to a secluded little house tucked away in the countryside. A heavy, metallic smell of iron hung thick in the damp air, sending an instinctive jolt through her nervous system screaming at her to turn and run, but she pressed forward and approached the front door instead.

Before she could knock, angry voices cut through the storm. A pair of teenagers covered in blood were locked in a heated argument right inside.

“Put the gun down,” a girl’s voice lisped as she burst straight through the door, colliding violently with Carmen and knocking her flat onto the muddy ground.

Scrambling up, Carmen saw the boy standing right behind her. He looked to be the exact same age, but his cold green eyes were completely devoid of empathy or feeling.

“Charles. You didn't have to kill our folks,” the girl sobbed out as Charles raised the weapon to shoot, completely tunnel-visioned and blind to Carmen’s presence in the dirt.

Moving with the lightning-fast reflexes of a master thief, Carmen leaped up, wrenched the gun right out of his grip, and hurled it far away into the deep brush. Without missing a beat, she grabbed both terrified twins by their arms and dragged them bodily back through the rain toward the waiting van.

As they neared the vehicle, the boy started spitting furious curses into the wet air, while the girl looked back at Carmen with wide, tear-filled eyes as if she were a guardian angel appearing right out of the storm

Reminds me of WOEICS episode 40: Can you ever go home again? Part Two...yeah, Carmen despises weapons after kicking Lee Jordan's henchmen with trying to get rid of Ivy and Zack; and yes, I see her tear rolled down her face as Malcolm Avalon was sent to the hospital while Lee Jordan and his gang were sent to prison in Beijing, China.

Yesterday, while watching a streamer, I learned something cool about the Eiffel Tower. The 72 names engraved on the Eiffel Tower belong to French scientists, engineers, and mathematicians who supported the building process. These golden letters are located on the first level (the lowest platform) of the tower, just beneath the balcony that runs around the structure.
