Kidman looked up to see a woman with stunning red hair come up beside her and she smiled.
"Oh, got those already." the girl said as she patted one of her bulging pockets. "I'm not really smuggling. Wait, am I? I thought this was free food." she added with sudden discomfort, then started piling a plate instead.
"What's your name?"

"Oh I am so sorry," she replied, "This is bad, but it's my first party."
"That is fine, I am Calina Corranos, I work in ACME Labs," she introduced herself, "It is my first party also, are you a staff or an agent?"

@Evgeni Gavriilovich
"So much women!" he commented to no one in particular. He then approached the nearest eye-catcher, a young, cheery South American lady. With a swift motion, he grabbed the fullest wine glass in passing and halted beside her with a 'nonchalance' that was dreadfully obvious. "How you like wine?" he asked before downing his beverage in one Russian swig.
"Seems to be not as much as you like wine, amigo," she nodded her head, a little impressed by that Russian swig, "How do you like wine?"

/me will do this using only '/me' tags

/me enters the party with an awkward little grin because he's been practicing his smile all winter but now his cheek muscles are sore.

/me waves to Gudrun because he remembers seeing someone like her around once, but didn't really think she saw him.

/me saves his wave.

/me grabs a glass of orange juice from a passing guy.

Evgeni dropped his drinking hand to his side in the most blatantly casual manner, accidentally allowing the last drops of wine to slither out of the conic cup and drip to the floor. "I'm like wine," he answered with a simper, "But the vodka is better."

@Gudrun

He turned to face the blonde and offered a raucous grin. "Your first party? We're make it's work!"

Colleen refrained from divulging her true thoughts, which were anchored to the fact that she was drinking a week before her 21st birthday. She took in the gentleman's exuberant attire and courtly manners. Searching for an adequate response, she raised her wine glass and tried to act natural:

"Oh, I was just wondering which yeast species was used for the fermentation process for this marvelous drink."

Unaware of her wiggling, she was quite pleased with her first social interaction.

Unsure of whether to attribute the wiggling to nerves or the alcohol, Joe chose to do the gentlemanly thing and politely ignore it.

Focusing instead on the conversation, he replied with a smile.

"It is rumoured that wine companies are ferociously tight-lipped about the type of yeast they use. The strain of yeast coupled with the wood of the barrels gives each wine its distinctive taste and flavour."

Pausing to take his own drink from a passing waiter, Joe scanned the room and motioned for his companion to do so.

"If you think about it, it's sort of like everyone in this room. Some might be dressed similarly, but underneath the facades, everyone is differently. The values we were taught, the culture and neighbourhood we grew up in, the experiences we've seen - all add up to give each of us our own unique and distinctive 'flavour'. Don't you agree?"

Colleen nodded in agreement, not entirely understanding the question. While glancing around the room, she noticed a small girl with conspicuously stuffed pockets. Pleased to discover another smuggler, she relaxed and returned her gaze to her intriguing new acquaintance. She extended her right hand toward him and replied in her best Mandarin:

"My name is Colleen Slate. Do you know many apples at this post office?"

From the question, Ivy concluded that the girl was either completely new to ACME or wasn't part of the agency at all. This alone, made her ideal company for the while.

"Ivy Monaghan, please to meet you." Usually, Ivy would extend her arm for a handshake after saying that, but seeing the girl's hands busy with loading up a plate, she decided to simply follow suit and grab one of the tiny shot glasses filled with Gazpacho. "So what do you do?"

Once Constance had her glass of punch in hand, she surveyed the room for someone who appeared interesting but, at the same time, not extremely intimidating to approach with the intention of starting a conversation. Spying a black haired young man (@Nevon) on the opposite side of the room, she slowly made her way in his direction. As she neared him, her foot quite accidentally caught on something and she was sent tripping forward. In an attempt to steady herself, Constance lost control of her punch glass and its contents splashed all over the front of the man. For a few split seconds, she just stood there horrified and unsure of what to do before quickly snatching up a napkin from an adjacent table.

“Oh my gosh! I am so sorry! I completely ruined your shirt”.

/me reminds any new RPers reading this that he okay'ed Constance's move.

'My Chase-Devineaux-look-alike-tie!' Nevon thought in his head when the punch drenched his shirt and part of the silk tie, 'where am I going to find another Salvatore Ferragamo [look-alike-product]?'

"My tie!" he said out loud, happy that his brain-mouth filter was working perfectly. The shirt would be okay, it was already sort of salmon.

Seeing the girl (@Constance) trying to wipe off the pinkish stain, he stopped her.

"It's okay, I know what to do," grabbing champagne from a nearby waiter, he poured it on himself, "CO2 from the champagne is like baking soda, and white sparkling wine doesn't stain, perfect counter-measure."

Crisis averted.

But now he was soaking.

"Uhm... I'm going to go dry off," he handed the empty champagne flute back to the blond girl, "I'm Nevon Blair, by the way. And after this, I think you owe me your Facebook."

Cali thought this Russian was funny, but so far all he has been doing is showing his ideas of a good time.

"You are ACME Agent?" she asked questioningly, "based on which sector?"

She had the mild suspicion he was part of an exchange agents program.

"My name is Joseph Kerr. It's nice to meet you, Colleen."

Taking a quick scan of the room, he observed a curious couple where the guy just poured Champagne on himself. He wondered if there would be more unusual antics to come as the night progressed on.

Turning back to the lovely lady in front of him, Joe took another sip from his drink before continuing the conversation in English.

"Unfortunately, I do not know of many people here, Colleen. I am actually from out of town. What about you though? Surely a lovely girl such as yourself must have many friends here?"

Constance was relieved when the man didn’t seem too upset. He appeared to shrug it off easily in a good-natured way. Then he grabbed some champagne and dumped it on his tie and shirt. This was perplexing to say the least, but, upon further explanation from the man, the action made sense to her… sort of.

"Uhm... I'm going to go dry off," he handed the empty champagne flute back to the blond girl, "I'm Nevon Blair, by the way. And after this, I think you owe me your Facebook."
@Nevon Blair… His name reminded her of a sheriff or a marshal… or perhaps a Texas Ranger from the old west. It had a strong, but classy sound.

Quickly snapping her attention back to the present, Constance introduced herself. “I’m Constance Kitlyn. Friends call me Kit... or Connie… or whatever… I don’t want to keep you from cleaning up though. Again, I’m very sorry”.

((So... the latest is that the woman who reported the folks to the police, called the guy who handled the appeal (after we left the room) and told him that if he doesn't make sure to get the folks out of the building, she'd make things difficult for him. The property manager told ma a few days ago, and ma told me today. So, anyone know what that would be called? Coercing, bribery, influence peddling? Would that invalidate the eviction? This is Section 8 housing, so low-income housing. The appeal decision should in theory get here next week or maybe Friday, and they can appeal again, maybe this one would be in real court... don't know. I will advise the folks contact legal aid and see what they say.))

((Correction: the parents are caving, they are planning for the move ON January 1st, without waiting to hear what the appeal decision is, and not willing to fight it. I stormed out of their place tonight (punched the call button for the elevator... they may have heard it), because I know they could win the second appeal hands down (they don't want "more of the stress from all this", they would discuss shit when I went to the bathroom tonight). I reminded them they may not get the entertainment center through the door to the apartment, we probably will have to take the claw legs off the table for the first time ever, but they have their heart set on it. ))

They're set on a two bedroom apartment ($154 more than the current, at least), it's up to me if I want to move, they said. Once we leave this place (section 8/low-income housing, the waiting list is over 2 years), that's it... the building manager retires later 2025... she pulled a string to get me in here))

Did you know.....The original candy canes were straight sugar sticks that were often used to decorate Christmas trees. The first historical reference to the cane shape was in 1670, when the choirmaster at Cologne Cathedral in Germany bent the sugar sticks into the shape of a shepherd's staff. Candy canes remained white until the early 20th century when red stripes and peppermint flavor became popular.
