VILE I assure you, We're Open! (VILE only)

"Nothing that didn't already belong to me. The wheel matrix was something I built some time ago. Family history of osteoarthritis. Of course I've also put on more than a hundred pounds so, my knees are getting crushed really bad." Ken shifted a moment in his seat. "But I'm sure you're more interested in this." He pulled the thumb drive from his pocket.

"When I used to work at VILE, I had a laptop. It was my main tool for breaching Crime-Net back in the day. And during the span of time I was at VILE, Carmen did that stunt where she made off with the entire ACME building. I had a very short amount of access to the raw Crime-Net servers, but I used that small amount of time to download the entire source code."

"I figured at some point I was going to use it to pull a few more capers, but I was sidetracked by an incident where another hacker named Sarbajit Jasjiv was looking to frame me for an international terrorist act. To keep everything safe, I backloaded the boot protocol of my laptop onto this hard drive, so nobody could access my laptop without it. Then I hid the laptop....Somewhere in the United States? And it's been there ever since."

 

[Acton Roux]

"And what will you do with all of this now?" The masked doctor regarded Ken, "I do not see that you have a team with you."

Acton studied the thumb drive and also reconsidered the knee problem mentioned by the speaker.

"Without proper care for those knees you may end up wheelchair-bound," he suggested. "I do not believe The Lady would be happy with me if I simply let a former acquaintance leave without offering service. Would you not stay, at least, a while? We shall look at those poorly formed joints."

 

[Ken U Belevitt]

"The 'Lady' isn't going to like what I have planned. So I can forget about getting VILE involved. And I'm not exactly sitting on a tuffet." Ken heaved a sigh. "Doc...you ever wonder why we're here? Doesn't matter how mysterious Carmen chooses to keep things, eventually the truth just slithers out in the most mundane way possible. That's what happened to me...ACME wanted me as their idiot savant, but Jasjiv wanted me dead. Fate decided to split the difference. So now I'm a talking turnip, and Carmen let's me along because I can't do any harm to her here."

 

[Acton Roux]

"Perhaps you have been away for too long," Acton said. "While you were gone, much has changed. The Queen herself disappeared from us for nearly a year. Many of our existing nodes were raided by ACME, including the Antarctica base."

The doctor returned the thumb drive.

"I still believe your best chance of survival and sanity may be with us," he walked to a brewing pot, "would you like tea?"

"I'm a tiny bit aware of that. I managed to seek the VILE H.Q. in Paris for a while, in the same way I came here just to find you and the mini-mole." Ken immediately put the thumb drive back in his pocket. "But I still think you're missing the big picture here, Doc: Carmen is inclined to think of all this as some sort of game, but really, this has become a full blown war of attrition. Has been since I was ever so young. I always thought I'd be betraying Carmen's trust if I even thought what I am currently planning. It's just not cricket, but I'm living proof as to how lives are at stake."

Ken leaned onto the table with his Elbows. He had to make certain that what he said next was still audible to the Doc, but it was too sinister for him to ever even consider saying it out loud.

"I am going to destroy Crime-Net. All of it. No more international network, no more C-5 sources, no remnants of Ivan Idea's inventions. ACME is gonna shake loose from this one with nothing but a notepad and a tricycle."

 

[Acton Roux]

Acton Roux shrugged, he did not know what Crime-Net truly was, and did not care so much for its significance. From the times he had crossed paths with the other side, he had not heard the name uttered. He only knew that the C-5 had already been destroyed some 15 months ago.

"I believe you are a little a late. The C-5 technology was already destroyed. The original tower destroyed along with any remnants of its former technology," He made his own tea and sat back on a chair. "If you do not see yourself adhering to Carmen's rules, I do not suggest you stay. And if you leave today you will no longer be able to access our safe houses or use our resources. It seems you have some choices to make."

((I have spoken to Chase, and in this current version of ACME, Ivan Idea and Crime Net does not exist, so I am somewhat confused. Perhaps this RP will not be canon then?))

((No need to take it out of canon. I'll just play the ball where it lands.))

Ken glared at the doctor. His face turned red as a tomato and his teeth clenched. He was clearly furious. Nevertheless, he restrained, the twitching squint of his eyes lessening before he opened his mouth again.

"If what you say is true, and let's face it in comparative likelihood it is, then I'm obviously a few steps behind. I wouldn't want my revenge against ACME to be anything messier than that, so it's all withdrawn." Ken leaned in, and his face darkened once again. "But, I'm going to give you, and any other VILE agent a bit of fair warning: you have the luxury of throwing on that top hat and tie, and pulling off Carmen's heists like it's a distinguished little game, but the only real difference between me and you, doc, is that this has already made ME into a monster. Maybe you should spend a little time in your lab thinking about what's going to happen to YOU..."

Ignoring any more of Roux's pleasantries, Ken simply rotated in his chair and exited the room into the hallway. He made it as far out into the hall as it took for him to look back into the storeroom, then he slumped over and bawled, frustrated, into his hands, lamenting, "Bwaaahh...Why does this only happen to me? What on earth did I do to deserve all this...?"

[Neb]

Neb was on the hunt for things to do. She always had things to do, because one of those things to do was to find things to do. That meant that any strange sounds must be investigated, and the sounds she was hearing now were very strange.

As she came in she found an odd collection of company; a tiny Carmen, a plague doctor, and a...a....

Neb squinted at the crying mass of orange hair and wheels. "...Ken? Is that you? The heck is going on in here?"

 

[Ken U Belevitt]

"Oh....Kid....Ah..." Ken slumped backwards in his chair. "I'm just wallowing in the pity of my own miserable cursed existence as only I can." He pulled a handkerchief from his lapel pocket and blew his nose. "I was in the middle of executing an ingenious scheme only to be reminded that entropy already did it for me."

 

[Joe Kerr]

"You know...for a guy who was trying to sneak in and out, you're making a lot of noise right now Ken," Joseph Kerr walked over, giving Roux and Neb polite nods in greeting.

 

[Ken U Belevitt]

"That ship's already sailed, Kerr. And for a guy who takes after a famous master thief, you sure don't mind being the last pony out of the gate." Ken's mood swung on a dime. It was just his luck a whole gaggle of VILE accomplices would converge upon him the moment he had nothing to do.
