but we live in an area with bats, rats, raccoons, nutria (giant rat beavers that used to be hunted for their fur until PETA pushed anti fur campaigns. Now they eat our houses.), aligators, cats, birds, you name it

Welcome to spring in Texas. Cold season spanned 2? 3? months and its getting warm again. Be on the look out for giant river rats, rednecks, and rattlers.
