My mother never taught us of religion, and my father didn't care, strangely enough, I had a nanny who taught me my first 'religious concept' and it was voodoo.))

Isn't it? It was rather empowering as well, she used to say that we women were the most powerful things in the world. I still remember her words. "The most powerful being... It is not the lion, it is not the tiger, it is the girl."

    It's because it hinges on the idea that everyone wants to be ordinary (aka "normal") and that being anything other should be punishable socially. It stems from imperial modes of thinking that harm people not white-cis-straight-abled-perisex-etc because the idea of normal is centred on "some guy"-isms
