They washed over the Bots and Bad Bombers, sweeping them away as Jester felt while also giving a look that said these spells were ridiculous and shouldn’t exist. Charlet picked up a sheep and pressed it against Jester as she said, “Sheepy sheepy! Here’s sheepy!” But the spicy pop started to wear off as a shrinking Charlet ended up on the sheep that carried her lying down to the others. The Masterminds said they could not be defeated. Still, it mattered not as the Masterminds were being beaten one by one as the Emblem Warriors and Toy Soldiers advanced and scattered their remaining forces. Cabbie was knocked back as Laverna’s magic arrow struck Magnet, who was a circumstantial shield while in her arms. Cabbie was placed under arrest as Jack punched Barnaby, sending him flying. Bagura was no match for two Bomber girls as Laverna and Charlet blasted him away. Walter received a reverse punch to the face as he tried to sneak up on Tenchi and was out cold.
Everyone began cheering as the last of Barnaby’s army was driven back to Bogeyland. The Toy Soldiers ensured to secure the roads and helped start issuing needed supplies to the citizenry. The king and queen were quick to give speeches about defeating the forces of evil and restoring peace to the realm. While in Toy Town, Jack and Mary celebrated with their old and new friends. The trial ended up being an open-and-shut case as it was learned that Emerald Empire Corporation was responsible for a laundry list of crimes. Carson, Apollo, and Phoenix had no trouble getting the book thrown at EEC regardless of their acting CEO actions.
Apparently, Alice Liddell was actually the CEO. Still, she tried making people believe she was humble by doing lower-level jobs. But in reality, the power of running a major company had gone to her head. It revealed a narcissistic sociopath who felt the ends justified the means. Namely the fall of Wonderland and its newest Queen Anne. While putting on a false persona, Alice orchestrated the company in Jesters' absence. Even the office space in Cole City was just a shell company, with her being there as an attempt to quell doubt about its legitimacy. Alice was constantly visiting contacts and building up a who’s who of influential people. If and when criticism came, her board members would cause doubt in the public mind.
As a result, the exposure was huge, and the court trial became the biggest that year. While ACME and world governments quickly dismissed her name as a mere coincidence to the storybook Alice those in the know had to watch every little detail come out of this fallen heroine. Once her lies began to unravel, she became more unhinged and started firing anyone who challenged her authority. But the smoke and mirrors could only last so long. Finally, Alice was forced to confront the charges by giving interviews saying all accusations were totally unfounded. Then, as she was walking to the police car, cameras flashing, she believed she would be found not guilty because she was always getting her way.
This led to unhinged ranting and threats to the defense lawyers three. While Carson, Apollo, and Phoenix were no strangers to animosity. Their spectacular defense of the defendants from River Heights caused the EEC’s house of cards to fall. Nancy was proud of her father, Apollo, and Phoenix for seeing justice done in court. While Jenny found the necessary evidence to give the prosecution the ability to defeat Alice’s defense team. Alice Pleasance Liddell was found guilty on all counts, barred from being a CEO for several years, and taken away to Maximum Security Prison. On her way to the police car in cuffs, she said, “I was setup and have no regret for my actions! My appeal will go through and I will be set free! Down with that Wonderland witch Anne! She deserves to be in jail not me!”
The heroes on both sides of the train were eating it all up. Not only had they won the battle, but the preceding days were also kept occupied with partying and following the trial of the year. Charlet felt Alice was acting weird on Toyvision and asked Mary why. Mary told her she just ate too many mushrooms and not to worry about it. Zack and Ivy were busy preparing the case paperwork submission on their end. They did wonder if it was a good or bad thing that this was so routine for them. Anya got a message from Laverna showing her what Bomber girl Freezer Venus looked like. She said she vowed to sue whoever was responsible, causing Laverna to think the ice queen had actually told a joke.
Carmen was delighted that Laverna had represented VILE as well as she had, though she knew it was a shared effort. Paige made sure all the VILE henchmen knew whose example they should learn from. While Vic the Slick said, “Nuts to that! SHE could learn how to traffic stolen loot better but as she had stolen the roads used to traffic it no one can do that can they!?” Led Zeddelin quickly reminded Vic that even off the clock, his airships were perfectly capable of shipping whatever VILE thieves needed; for a price. Vic, disgusted, said, “How can you charge me to move stolen product you crook!? This is highway robbery!” Led, smiling, said, “And no one did that better than Laverna Vic. Cheers to her.” Vic defiantly said, “Vic-tory is yours for now. But I’ll out-steal you next time brat!” Led, staring sideways at Vic, said, “Really? Vic-tory?” Vic said, “Can’t a guy create new catchphrases anymore?”
Paige wholeheartedly said, “No Vic. Just no.” Patty was happy but then again when wasn’t she? As she told Sachi Karin and Candy Corn the basics of jewel swiping. Sachi and Candy tried their best not to cry as they were left out of a seemingly colossal adventure. Sachi, sniffling, said, “If we had known Laverna was going to do all that we would have tagged along. Quick teach us how to end up dragged along on adventures already.” Patty told them they already had one in Siberia, and they had caused enough trouble as it was. In a last act of defiance, they both yelled, “We want to go to Toverland! Attractie Park! Jajaja!” Patty placed Attractiverm over her eyes as she sighed, determined to make the best crooks out of them. Carmen assured Laverna that she was very proud of her and said, “Love you lots.”
Laverna ended the call and jubilantly returned to the party, which had been going on since it started. Even though technically it hadn’t, the citizens weren’t about to wait for it to officially begin after what had happened. This ended up working great for the party planners Laverna, Pretty, and Honey, who got the “Girl of the Day, Month, Year” song treatment for their heroic actions and good deeds they did in town. They made sure this party would be amazing, and courtesy of the royal purse, no expense was spared. Queen Anne assured Cole that it was for the best as a king needs an iron hand to his enemies and an olive branch to his friends. That rule apparently applied all the time, as Anne made it clear that Alice was to be shown no mercy before the ruling. So as the two watched Alice being taken from the court to a police car courtesy of a rare feed sent by ACME from the earth, Anne showed a little smirk.
All the heroes enjoyed the celebration as the Masterminds were sent back to Bogey Town in defeat. They made the most of it by committing crimes and tormenting their neighbors for fun. They vowed to do away with goodness and cheer and that their enemies would pay. They reiterated this at Wayward Villainy during open mic night. Each one would stand on a dark stage in the spotlight and give their best “You’ll rue the day” rant. It made them feel a lot better, and Clyde, who had returned to his counseling duties, told them that was all that mattered.
