It was early afternoon as Lucy entered Musee Mecanique on Fisherman's Wharf. The clacking of change echoed in the small place. She'd been looking forward to this for weeks. The invitations were sent out to her friends and classmates but she wasn’t sure who would arrive. They went to the change machine and got quarters before walking around a little, trying to decide what to play. Lucy ultimately deciding to play Pacman; a classic. Sanchez fished in her pocket and put two quarters in the machine before the game roared to life. That familiar tune played and gave her enough time to get her hands in position.

“Dang it!” Lucy said, as Pac Man was eaten. These controls were harder than she was used to. Inserting more coins she tried again but lost again. She growled. This wasn't going to deter her. She put more change in and tried again.

Laverna skipped in with Devlin crooks on her heel. She smirked at him as she ran for the skeeball machines he reluctantly followed with a corded necklace wrapped on his neck from his days battling leukemia as a child. “Come on,”. Laverna squealed and he followed like a protective figure.

 

[Lucy]

Lucy sighed. She'd had enough of pac man, so she began wandering again. What else was here? There was a stretch a penny machine, which brought back memories of going to the zoo as a kid; but she wasn't interested in that. Then Sanchez walked to the back and discovered the two skeeball machines, and watched two kids playing.

"Come on. You can do it!" She cheered.

Lucy sighed. She'd had enough of pac man, so she began wandering again. What else was here? Laverna smirked as she got the ball in the hundred point hole without breaking a sweat. She couldn’t care much about being watched, she loved attention. Devlin threw a ball and it fell into the 50 point hole and he shrugged. He took out his tablet and was working on a chemical formula while watching Laverna out of the corner of his eyes.

Lucy watched for a while, amused by the girl. Then she walked over to the skeeball machine on the left side and put some change in, smiling.

"Hey, let's make this interesting. How about a friendly competition? What do you say?"

Sanchez rolled the ball and was able to get it into the 50 hole and then the 40 hole. It had been awhile since she'd played this game but it seemed like she was still pretty good at it. Lucy tried again and this time it was the 40 hole again. Hmm. It was still just as fun as last time.

Lucy watched for a while, amused by the girl. Then she walked over to the skeeball machine on the left side and put some change in, smiling.

lavwrna smirked thinking she had it in the bag. She got it into the hundred point hole, but the next ball flew out of her hand hitting a window cracking it. “Now you done if.” Devlin chuckled and Laverna shrugged and continued and got the next ball into the ten point hole.

Lucy enjoyed a little bit of friendly competition. Who didn't? She finished her game with an okay score and then said, "Ready? Set? GO!"

“si,” Laverna chuckled but fate wasn’t on her side as she guttered all the balls in the zero point hole. “Yo no soy idiota.” She grumbled

The game ended with Lucy winning. She turned to the kid and held her hand out for a handshake. She wanted to be a good sport whether she won or not.

“Good game. Want to play whack a mole next?”

laverna scoffed, “Playing games detective?” She asked in a teasing voice. She knew playing whack a mole wouldn’t hurt but the idea of teasing was fun too.

Lucy chuckled. "Always games with you VILE agents." she walked over to whack-a-mole.

"If you don't want to continue that's fine. I will understand. Maybe the red lady herself has something for you to do."
