is the type of fruit known for its color, however this variety not following that standard?
No, it's the expected color for its type, and for that matter, it's yellow or orange-ish yellow when ripe.

Is it an orange?
It is not an orange.

@Chase, I think Invader was trying to narrow down the category of citrus fruit by asking if it was a type of lemon (as opposed to an orange, grapefruit, kumquat, etc.)

@Invader please correct me if I am wrong and have assumed too much.
I'll give this as a free answer then, since there's a bit of variation on what is classified as citric and what is associated with names. It is not a sub-type of any well-known citrus fruit. It is its own named citrus fruit.

Oops,my fault Chase I should've you ask this: Is this fruit smaller than a golf ball?
No, it is not smaller than a golf ball

No, the fruit is not naturally sweet, and is not popularly eaten unless it has been candied.

The only citrus fruit I know is a Mandarin Orange that's all I'll guess...because if I get this fruit wrong someone can figure out the fruit correctly (Hey at least I read the clues).

popularized by a Twitter account in 2010. It is named after the misunderstood giant in the 2003 film Big Fish. Older or alternative terms used locally include simply "the fog" or sometimes "Big Mama", Seasonal Names: It is often associated with the terms "June Gloom" or "Fogust" due to its prevalence in the summer months.

Did you know....the horns on the viking's helmets are a myth? The popular image of the "horned Viking" can be traced back to the 1870s. Costume designer Carl Emil Doepler created horned helmets for Richard Wagner’s opera cycle Der Ring des Nibelungen to enhance the characters' theatrical presence. (I BELIEVE in the Where in Time game, they tell us this too....)
