TL;DR: Ennai is a Raven.
Ennai identified herself as a fox when she was young. She thought herself clever, athletic, playful, curious, capable, and companionable under the right circumstances. She enjoyed people and conversation, but she was always a bit of a contradiction, coming off as both reserved and outgoing. She spent much of her early youth traveling with her parents. She was content with being solitary, but enjoyed people and conversation when the opportunities presented themselves. And while she was a little odd, she would have considered herself happy in her own way.
Her disposition changed drastically in teens, as a result of extreme circumstances. She became secretive, duplicitous, and distant. She learned how to kill where she once knew how to fight, learned how to trap where she once knew how to charm, and learned how to care without being too attached. She was always cunning, but she became incredibly calculating. She was still guided by compassion and conscience, and those she worked with liked her, for the most part, thinking her loyal, something close to amicable, and, as time went by, immensely dangerous, which only bolstered her position. She found herself forging real friendships with the people she intended to bring to their knees. She had become a predator, albeit a likeable one. If she had ever thought about it, Ennai would have thought of herself as a black leopard. Hiding not a few feet away from her prey, not quite right in terms of temperament, not quite natural in the animal kingdom. Precise, solitary, and single-minded.
As she spent time out of the organization and, eventually, out of the CIA, she slowly began to embrace what she considered her better features once more. It took years, but she ultimately found a strange balance between the two.
While both of these descriptions are accurate, neither really suit her as an inner animal. Ennai is a raven. She is cunning, and playful. She is mischievous and focused. She is curious and cautious. She can push people's buttons when she wants to. She's competitive and sometimes a little arrogant, with slight underpinnings of entitlement. She scavenges. She hunts. She sometimes overestimates her abilities. Circumstances may have altered her behavior--she is now sometimes silent simply out of habit and engaging simply out of usefulness, she is distant out of necessity, and she finds herself caring about people she will never be able to fully trust. But who she is, comprehensively, is not something that has been completely erased or disfigured, even through years of trauma.
