(Of course I don't of the character of Jade, and this story was written as a surprise for her. I hope she likes it.)
In a small town near East Tennessee, USA
(Around 12:00 pm)
Wearing her usual casual dark blue T-shirt and pants (that look similar to jeans, but are not really jeans) and comfortable, casual shoes that are good for doing a lot of walking in, but that still manage to look "cute." Her brown hair tied up in her typical ponytail on the left side of her head; wearing very little makeup, in colors that compliment her very fair skin; and her glasses, that have very dark frames, Jade Ezel, returns home from a morning of doing errands, and is greeted by her mackerel tabby cat, Sam.
"Hello, Sam. I missed you and I guess you missed me, too."
Like the alert free agent and amateur detective that she is, Jade makes sure that the door is closed and locked behind her before she walks over to her computer table and sits down, hanging her purse on the back of her chair. Sam jumped up on the table just as Jade reached for her padhhone.
"No, no Sam. You can't do that. I can't have you walking on my padphone, accidentally activating the C-5 back at ACME Headquarters...unless you want to be a detective like me," Sam curled up in Jade's lap and purred, while Jade checked her messages. She had a few messages; she always has at least a few messages everyday. But there was nothing really urgent today; nothing that indicated Carmen...or anyone else was on the lose...at least not yet anyway. But it was still early in the day, and that could change in a second.
"Well...I'm kind of hungry. Maybe I should have a snack," Jade thought to herself. "Hey Sam, would you like a snack, too?" Jade asked; and her cat acted more like a dog as he followed her to the kitchen. Jade looked at Sam's food dish, and he still had a bit of dry food left. But she did get him some fresh water. Jade was still deciding what to fix herself; probably just some fruit or something else healthy; when suddenly she heard what sounded like a truck slowing down...then stopping...then the door opening...and a *knock* at the door...and then a moment later, the truck left.
Jade was very curious and looked around cautiously as she opened the door. She saw a small package on her doorstep. It was addressed to her; the return address had the name of Agent Julie Justice on it, and the address of ACME Headquarters in San Francisco. Jade picked up the package and brought it inside, and sat at her table to open it. When she finally opened the box she found a box of the same size wrapped in light blue wrapping paper that had a little bit of a glossy finish to it; tied with a very simple white ribbon. When she opened the box she found 1 Himalayan Sky Beaded Bracelet, made by several families of artisans on the outskirts of Harpur, India. The bright blue, turquoise blue, and and dark blue glass beads with stripes of gold beads in between represent the sky after sunset. Brass bracelet, with glass beads. Hand made in India. 11/2 in. W x3 in. diam. Adjustable. 1 Javanese Flora Beaded Ring, Bright blue rose ring with sequins on an elastic band. Adjustable. 1/4 in band, 1/2 in. flowers. Made in Indonesia. And 1 $10 gift card for Sam that she can redeem at the nearest PetCo. She also found at note that said:
"Hello Jade. I saw these things, and I thought of you. I hope you like them. I hope you have a great birthday, and I a great year. I enjoyed meeting you, and I look forward to working with you someday.
Sincerely, Julie Justice."
