(Gonna try something different today.) Q: If you had the chance to colonize another planet without the chance of coming back, Would you do it?

I would do it but I'd prefer terraforming with emphasis on environmentally friendly infrastructure rather than "manifest destiny" type imperial colonization. It allows sort of an experiment into creating a world with minimal waste footprint

That’s in line with my philosophy. If the world was rocky and barren the crust would be ground up and vital nutrients blended in to make soil for farming. This would require large machines to accomplish this down to a depth of at least six feet. But a farm world would be established to feed people.

The key is manufacturing in space. Establish factories on the moon and then build factories to operate in space then build everything needed. The cost would be… astronomical but it must be done

((OOC: well, if anyone has a decent tower they could part with for shipping, let me know... rearranged my floor, which moved my better laptop into my makeshift living room (it has HDMI, so easier to hook up). The current laptop in my bedroom is barely able to YouTube, let alone do much else (Dell with a 2 core, 4 thread Intel (I shudder typing that word), 4 gigs RAM, Win7 Pro... painfully slow is being nice.

((Forgot about that one. I have my eye on new parts to build the next tower, just need to win the Powerball and get better wiring up here (my laser printer dims my floor when it's on) ))

((So... the folks called me upstairs to help figure out how to get their SSI paperwork to the new landlord... we were discussing it, when the landlord emailed that all three of us are denied... mostly the main thing was "poor rental history; insufficient income (they're on SSI); no credit file; if no judgment was rendered on them after they appealed the initial eviction notice, then they gave their 30 days notice, can they rescind that (this is Minnesota, ya shure, ya betcha) and stay?

Something just dawned on me. You know how we went from two digit years to four digit years because of the Y2K bug? In like 9K years we'll have to go to 5 digit years to combat the problem again :D
