(I like to go to steampunk and writing conventions. The comic cons are really just big shopping sprees for me. I avoid anime cons because I have a somewhat good but mostly negative history with them.)

ours is considered and named a comicon but the only other anime convention is expensive/extremely large so anime and manga booths also set up. Theres a lot of steampunk booths and since a lot of our local colleges deal in robotics, robotic replicas from movies

(The east and the west both discovered comics in a way that can be considered organic. So there's minor technical differences between japanese comics, or Manga, and american ones.)
