(@Eugene and @Chase thank you. It's been quite a journey. I'll spare you lot the agonizing personal details, but I will say that I'm glad the effort I've put in is being rewarded. Fortunately, I am also being recognized by the "right people" in my company, for my sales results as well as my commitments to employee wellness. It is extremely gratifying to know ones efforts are acknowledged.)

(So, quick question for everyone here. I'm working on an application for another company. I'm in the good graces of quite a few managers at my current company that I have previously served under. Would it be inappropriate to ask one of them if I could use them as a reference?)

If they're competitors either directly or indirectly, might not be wise to ask a manager to be reference.
