i have read some BAD academic articles about pop culture but "carmen sandiego is problematic because it makes the powerful adult woman character a villain and she wears red, which makes kids associate her with bad things because it's the color of a stop sign, in contrast to the statue of liberty which is green" is... a mighty hot take
the other one i didn’t even put up because it put carmen in the title then only mentioned her once, to say it was bad because it casts a woman as a villain and espouses a white male perspective
claire, that is not even the worst article on pop culture i've read. i have read some nuclear takes, though i can't remember them atm... which is probably fortunate.
You know, I think the Netflix Carmen would have been better if they had done good flashbacks. Carmen was a teen right? Why not do flashbacks of when Carmen and Chase were partners and working together? Or when Chase was chasing Carmen? Or more about when Carmen quit?
