What was Nevon's first real case out in the field, with actual danger and bad guys?
Nevon's first case in the field with actual baddies was in Kamchatka. It was the first time he had to be fitted for tactical armor and the first time he had to go through rifle training. He had basic firearms training, but he was completely over his head when it came to larger weapons.

He luckily didn't have to shoot anyone (and also wasn't shot), because Carmen Sandiego negotiated a deal with the Mercenaries before they attacked Nevon's small team of agents during the raid of Torun Zamok. He never personally met Carmen then, but he was really grateful.

Follow up to my earlier questions about Carmen related things: Would Nevon ever tell Carmen he was grateful she saved him?

Yes he would! When the chance comes up to pause and reflect on things, telling people how grateful you are for their help is important.

Right now everything is mission-critical. I don't know if she even remembers saving Nevon and his team. She probably saves people all the time and doesn't even care if she gets acknowledged.

What does Nevon think about VILE? Has anything Chase said influenced his views?
Chase has always taught us to respect VILE, and drilled into us the fact that VILE is strictly non-violent. Throughout training, we're reminded of how local and international cases involving interactions with them require less-than-lethal mentality.

Because of that, Nevon thinks higher of VILE than a lot of the things he sees in organized crime. But he still has to consider them an enemy organization because that's their label.

What's the biggest difference, so far, between Nevon's time as an ACME accountant and now as an ACME Detective? Would he have preferred to go back to the accounting department?

The biggest difference, sir, is serving under you. From orientations up until graduation, you've inspired me to be a better version of myself. I didn't mind life in accounting, but as soon as I saw what was possible, I had to go for it.

I wouldn't want to go back to the accounting department at this time. There's so much more to do as a field agent. Maybe when I'm older and I need to retire with a desk job.

Is there a protocol for times when tactical leadership disagrees with strategic leadership, and has it ever happened on a mission?
Chase is almost definitively our strategic leader, and then whoever is in charge of the mission is our tactical leader. Chase isn't usually in the field himself.

The protocol is to always listen to the Tactical Lead. That's the chain of command. The Tactical Lead has a direct responsibility for our welfare and knows best in the situation we're in. If the Tactical Lead isn't following the command of our Strategic Lead, they have to deal with the Strategic Lead later.

As far as I know, it has never happened on a mission.

What were your mothers' thoughts about your shift from accounting to fieldwork?
I was afraid to tell them at first, because they didn't like the idea of ACME when I moved from UCLA to join the academy. Even less, they probably wouldn't want me to put myself in danger.

But about year into my training, I told them and was surprised how happy they were that I was doing something I wanted. They took me out to a big dinner when I passed my Detective exam. Then after my first complete mission, we went to Universal Studios for a day.

Did you know.....The original candy canes were straight sugar sticks that were often used to decorate Christmas trees. The first historical reference to the cane shape was in 1670, when the choirmaster at Cologne Cathedral in Germany bent the sugar sticks into the shape of a shepherd's staff. Candy canes remained white until the early 20th century when red stripes and peppermint flavor became popular.
