Favourite Breakfasts

I am taking the liberty of posting for Mr Nace "Teddy" Bilby, who has expressed curiosity about our character/s's favourite breakfasts but appears rather shy about asking.

In the tradition of TECS (consider our Bunker Boys call-signs and our emoticon collection) and our great love of food and drink, do expound on this topic as much as desired. Have fun and thank you, Teddy, for the suggestion! :)

I like Shakshouka. We get a spicy tomato/vegetable sauce with lots of garlic and peppers and then cook some eggs in it. There should be a good side of pickled vegetables, olives, pita bread and humus.

I have to say my favorite is blueberry pancakes with bacon, preferably served by someone I can stand to be around in the mornings. It's a good change from the usual cold pizza or leftover Chinese food.

Thanks for the accolades, and for posting this.

I must say I do like to use my electric skillet to make either steak and eggs as a Friday morning tradition, or bacon and eggs, or another favorite is taking mincemeat (like sandwich steaks for steak sandwiches) and frying that before dicing a tomato and then scrambling a couple eggs and pouring the eggs of the meat and tomato for a neat little scramble.

When I lived in South Africa, especially in the years before I joined the South African army, various wild game meats would wind up on the table when on grandfather's ranch. I distinctly remember having had many a good breakfast with meat from the kudu or impala or many other antelope species of South Africa with a side of eggs having been a feature of breakfast during the summertime.

Constance's favorite breakfast is her aunt's homemade blueberry pancakes with two scrambled eggs and a side of various other fruits and fried mushrooms. She likes to sprinkle some grade B maple syrup on the pancakes and place a small, melting slab of butter to top it off.

Currently, since Constance never has the time to make such a breakfast and isn't the best of cooks, she usually throws together a garden omelet in the morning as it is quick and easy.

O'Sullivan's does a wonderful pub fry up: Eggs, sausages, homemade baked beans, a slice of toast and grilled mushrooms.

As a nod to my grandmother, I also like varenyky in the mornings. She used to make it in the mornings with sour cherries and white soft cheese.

Typically, I simply eat a bowl of granola--preferably, homemade.

On weekends, I might prepare a more elaborate meal. It can range from omelets to crêpes, muffins to stir-fry of some variety. It is dependent on mood, I suppose.

I just heard on the news they're going to have to remove the Sakura trees in Washington because of damage to a sea wall. They have to build a sea wall and replant new trees.

@Lucy ... don't know if you really want wolf spiders in your home... I'd go for jumping spiders, they can't bite... wolf spiders are the fast movers, and they can bite.

((Will lose my ACP internet towards the end of the month, unless anyone knows about it ending sooner. Trying to switch my Lifeline phone to a better provider that doesn't shut me off after four and a half gigs of data, nothing but failure so far and "call here" and "it's on their end" and the back and forth crap... in the morning, it's time to demand the supervisor and might even get to harsh language (after three days of that). I plan to use the Lifeline phone tethered as Internet source, share that to my own router... I've done it before (it's messy, and not 100% effective, but it works). ))

I have active Verizon through ACP, active Lifeline through Airtalk... is that somehow the issue? If anyone knows, please let me know before I tear someone a new one (ya know what I mean). After three days of this, and two days about a month ago, I'm ready to walk there with katana in hand.))
