I post random things in history I learned.

Did you know dog food was only invited because of ww2 and feeding the dogs fresh food became an unnecessary expense during rations. Talk about dry kibble

Did you know Clyde barrow tried to steal a toy car ((one of those baby walkers shaped like a ford v8,)). It was for Bonnie’s nephew which he called his nephew. Bonnie told him to put it back as the baby will cry. That’s Christmas 1933:

I confused, I thought Champlain held "Nessie", but we have an American one too?

Edit: Okay yeah I see I mixed them up.

Nessie is in Loch Ness
"Champ" is in Lake Champlain
and this other one is in Canada.

Today I learned an event in 1961 in Monterey Bay, California inspired the movie "The Birds"
It was poisoned zooplankton that caused the birds erratic behavior and deaths. The birds suffered seizures, confusion and death. Thus attacking people, buildings, etc...also just dropping dead out of the sky.

popularized by a Twitter account in 2010. It is named after the misunderstood giant in the 2003 film Big Fish. Older or alternative terms used locally include simply "the fog" or sometimes "Big Mama", Seasonal Names: It is often associated with the terms "June Gloom" or "Fogust" due to its prevalence in the summer months.

Did you know....the horns on the viking's helmets are a myth? The popular image of the "horned Viking" can be traced back to the 1870s. Costume designer Carl Emil Doepler created horned helmets for Richard Wagner’s opera cycle Der Ring des Nibelungen to enhance the characters' theatrical presence. (I BELIEVE in the Where in Time game, they tell us this too....)
