My parents allowed me to have a sip of alcohol before I was 21

Same. My parents owned a bar for 25 years. Their rule for me and my brother was this: "If you want to drink before 21, you do it under our supervision, on our property, you don't drive anywhere, and if you want your friends over they need their parents' permission and have to abide by the same rules." My first drink was at 19, didn't drink again until my 21st. Their rule helped a lot. Definitely took the glamour of rebellion out of underage drinking.))
