@systemcat but you also present your work in comic format, which is a different ballgame entirely. A "slow start" is more palatable if there are other appealing aspects to it, and that's often a matter of opinion anyway. Art, period, is subjective.))
So far, the only thing I haven't changed about my first chapter is the opening sentence: "Fifty feet from the helicopter, a rush of lightheadedness caused Claire Yeon to sway."))
In my defense, I'm also the kind of reader where if a story doesn't captivate me from the first page, I stop reading. Therefore, it is essential that the first few paragraphs are nearly flawless))
At the moment? One half. I have rewritten the first chapter more times than I can count. My original first draft hit 20 pages before I scrapped it. I have a document of notes, outlines, and scenes in reserve that is about 50 pages long.))
Most of what I have written into Claire's backstory is prior to her association with VILE. For about a year, I have been working on a novel-length story that details her biggest adventure to date, set between six to eight months before she joined VILE. It's very entertaining - at least to me -...
In a way, you are still a character. You are just electing to not create a personality and backstory apart from your reality, which is fine. Pretty sure @Morgan is Carmen Sandiego IRL anyway, so this is not a stretch of the imagination by any means.))
I didn't have any role-playing experience when I joined here, and when I first found this site, I held off on joining because I didn't think I'd enjoy it or be any good at it. I still maintain that I'm not any good at it, but darn if I haven't had a fantastic time developing my character and...
Perhaps my AMA; I think that would go for most of us here. That's where we got a chance to really deep-dive in our characters and discuss the things that are most important to us, our motivations, our histories, etc. I haven't shared any of my non-CS fandom work here.))
I am working on another one-shot character journal; I hope to finish it by the end of the week, but knowing me, I'll make decent progress tonight but then not be able to write more than a sentence at a time for the next three months))
All my business partners - mortgage, investments, etc - have been instructed to work from home. Our walk-in traffic is slow but we're still incredibly busy from our pipelines and what does come in. I'm frustrated because we're still being asked to invite clients in for appointments, but at least...
Hey hey! Carmen Sandiego got a mention on Jeopardy last night!! Also I didn't know Carmen and Barbie used to be friends. LOL. Post by @fycarmensandiego · 1 video
However, I've found it something with a software company called SoftKey International in which they did trade name the Learning Company after taking it over in 1995 and made a worst deal with Mattel in 1999.
I just realized that I could buy some different kinds of MRE's from Amazon and it reminded me how my father use to talk about them. My curiosity is getting the better of me because now I want to try them.....
