    So smaller nations like Sri Lanka and Laos, and many many others owe so much money to China that they can't pay back. They give back infrastructures to China, yes.

    China's foreign policy is currently lending money, and then taking collateral.

    Right now, the US is more locally focused. Also because economically, China is catching up, despite all that trade war talk.

    The U.S. does have this system where the privileged are out of touch with the rest of the population, but that's hardly unique in terms of governance.
