    Once I started having business meetings in the Gulf, I began pronouncing city names the way they do it. Dubai = Du-bae, Abu Dhabi = Abu Thabi. Then I started automatically switching it depending on where I was, had no idea I was doing it.

    True story -- I had a business meeting in Dubai, and this guy came in, spoke French with such a thick accent that I thought he was speaking Arabic. My brain didn't quite get how it understood his Arabic until I spoke French back... because it was French.
