Ivyr Saalira has many nicknames- Pitya , Lira, Crystal, Dog girl, Animal whisperer. The last two were due to her working with animals and dogs. Lira is a name she picked up from select friends. The other two (Pitya and Crystal) were names her parents called her before they died.

I've taken to shortening Eugene to Euge, pronounced similar to Huge. On that note, I have also been called Huge Jeans from time to time. Not used very often anymore, but I also have been called Earl Jr, a holdover from my days in the corps.

Personally I don't have a nickname...You know my full name is Jade-Anne Jarin Ezell (which is according to my profile) but everyone call me 'Jade' but sometimes some people misunderstood my name like Jaydee or Jada figure some people just mispronounce my name.

(Okay I don't remember this thread. I must have slipped down a worm-hole or something for two months? LOL. Whoops.:eek: )

Julie gave me the name "Alice" because of a status message where I said I was going down rabbit holes. Frankly I like the name, but @Julie Justice is the only one allowed to call me that. LOL JK. :D

"Strength" is the tarot cards that @Jacqueline Hyde did.

"Luce" is what @Pitya Ivyr @Victorique and @Jacqueline Hyde have nicknamed me.

(OOC: Julie does not have any nickmames, just because I could not think of any, at the time I created her.)

Both IC and OOC Julie is sometimes seen as a "mother hen" or "mama bear" type, especially by her younger friends.

IC: Julie is both "Justice" and "Temperance" In the Tarot card deck that Jacqueline did. (OOC: In fact, I liked that so much, that in fact, I looked up that particular deck, and made those cards my profile pics on Facebook for a while, if that tells you anything. ;) )

Is this person also being paid as well as given the car, or is this only for bartering?

They're also being paid... and they're not yet 20 so... this is going to be a good life lesson.

    Which projects are you running?

The biggest one is a pseudo-doppler radio direction finder kit. The club asked me to get it up and running.

It's proving to be a gigantic pain. I committed violent atrocities with a soldering iron this evening, and didn't make much headway.

That sounds almost exactly like me and a soldering iron.

Hold on, you actually have to make one? I thought there are pre-built parts you could frankenstein together.

to be fair, I was pushing my equipment way too far. My skills are with small surface mount stuff, not brazing an antenna to a board.

  • Eugene Eugene:
Yeah. This kit was just the electronics. You have to assemble the switch board and antenna array yourself.

but at least I got the oled screen soldered and running before I got too irritated.

I have the electronics complete. It's the structural side that's proving difficult.

Maybe a few more nights mulling on it would help?

  • Eugene Eugene:
Perhaps, but I do have an idea of how to proceed, now that I've seen what didn't work.

The oled and completed hotspot atop a raspberry pi zero. That was a fun little soldering project.
