Posting this for @Detective_Discovery
Harriet Tubman the woman who was a Union spy in the American Civil War and using the Underground Railroad.
"Good friends, good books, and a sleepy conscience this is the ideal life"
This happens to be a rather favorite author of mine.
Mark Twain alias Samuel Clemens the writer behind Tom Sawyer and Huckleberry Finn...
Ah yes I know the author and here's another Mark Twain quote to remember...
"Never pull off till tomorrow what you can do the day after tomorrow."
Reminds me of a Where on Earth is Carmen Sandiego? Episode Nine: Chapter and Verse...When Ivy and Zack just take a 'smooth landing' on the picket fences where Tom Sawyer trick his friends to do whitewashing the fence.
"Finish each day and be done with it. You have done what you could. Some blunders and absurdities have crept in; forget them as soon as you can. Tomorrow is a new day. You shall begin it serenely and with too high a spirit to be encumbered with your old nonsense.”
– Ralph Waldo Emerson
Duct tape is like the Force. It has a light side, a dark side, and it holds the universe together.
That made my night, thank you.
The more one does and sees and feels, the more one is able to do, and the more genuine may be one's appreciation of fundamental things like home, and love, and understanding companionship.
Traveling is much easier for everyone at ACME these days, now that we have the C-5 Corridor. But if you ever get tired of The Chase, think of this great quote I found...
"The world is like a book, and those who do not travel read only one page."
Keep your feet on the ground, but let your heart soar as high as it will. Refuse to be average or to surrender to the chill of your spiritual environment.
"There is no hope of joy except in human relations."
Antonie de Saint-Exupery.
“Curiosity is one of the permanent and certain characteristics of a vigorous intellect.”
― Samuel Johnson,
"Those who do not move, do not notice their chains."
If you are not willing to learn, no one can help you. If you are willing to learn, no one can stop you
Lucy,who said that quote?
Jade it's saying Zig Ziglar.
Reminds me of Where on Earth is Carmen Sandiego? episode 'The Tigeress' when the player asked Carmen who said 'Competition can make you stronger.'? Turns out it was Carmen herself...there's no joke about it!
"There is a fellowship more quiet even than solitude, and which when rightly understood, is solitude made more perfect."
Robert Louis Stevenson
Robert Louis Stevenson, the author of Treasure Island, Kidnapped and the Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde...That's a wise quote I should say.
There is a place called The Unionville Tavern, which is not too far from my home back in Ohio, that was part of the Underground Railroad. Harriet Beacher Stowe stayed there one night, and the things that happened there on that night were at least partly responsible for inspiring her to write her book "Uncle Tom's Cabin." The Unionville Tavern has fallen into disrepair, but it has been declared a historic landmark, and people are trying very hard to save it!!
