Invader
ACME
Dream
Just a dream that showed up, I have permission from the people here to write them in.
An agent came rushing in hoping to catch Chase, they had found something in the middle of the training field. They had been engaged in a training operation, when they had stumbled upon something.
"Chase sir, can you help her?" Called the agent.
"Help who?" Replied Chase stepping out of the office, and noticing the agent carrying a towel.
"Her, I don't know how hurt she is." They replied concerned.
Taking the towel, Chase opened it to reveal a falcon that was quiet but otherwise alive and had one drooping wing . It was a prairie falcon who was just old enough to be a fledgeling. Chase looked her over but determined that she seemed otherwise unhurt. However a a precaution he wanted to keep an eye on her. So she was sent to the animal action team for the night, and chase thought nothing more of it. Though he was wondering, why the bird had shown up in the first place.
The next morning the falcon was up but did not seem to be disturbed by it's new surroundings. In fact she seemed to be rather happy, and when chase walked into the room she called at him repeatedly. Moving closer she got quiet, but continued to look at him as if gazing into his soul. Eventually Chase brought out his old falconing gear, and moved her to his office for the day. The falcon was rather content to stay there, and slept most of the time, but woke up the moment Chase came into the room.
Over the next few days it seemed to get better, but was acting more like a hand raised bird than a wild one. They did find a leg band, and later found out the bird had been abandoned, though the one who did it was not found. Chase was not really sure he wanted another one after he had let one back into the wild. Right now he was talking to Ivy about the new recruits and the progress they were making. He did not notice Invader entering the office to do some basic cleaning.
"Hi there." She said to the bird. "You are a lovely gal."
The falcon, just sat there and took a long look at her, only to fly straight at her. Invader was started at first, but let the falcon land on her arm. After it did the bird started to make soft noises at her and snugged next to her as best as it could. Hesitantly she reached out and started to pet it. In turn the bird started singing at her, and Invader felt herself falling into a sleep like state. Moving to the chair she sat in it, and nodded off with her head leaning against her chest, the falcon moved closer to her and decided to sleep as well.
"Chase, she is no longer on her perch." Called Sophie who was walking by.
"What!" Exclaimed Chase turning to his office door, that was slightly ajar.
Opening it he saw that she was now sitting in Invaders lap fast asleep, and Invader was sleeping too. He was hesitant to open the door any further lest he disturb the two. There was an air of kinship about the two of them, though he knew not why.
"Hey Chase!" Called Ivy "I have the reports you wanted."
Chase motioned for Ivy to be quiet, before pointing at his office. Ivy a bit puzzled walked over and looked into the room.
"I think those two are meant to be together." Said Ivy.
"What makes you think that?" Inquired Chase.
"They both have broken wings, but are determined to fly again." Ivy Replied.
"I was not planing on keeping her." Remarked Chase. "Much less give her a name."
"Her name is serendipity." Mumbled Invader in her sleep. "She was abandoned."
Chase just looked at Invader puzzled, as the falcon gave a soft call at the name that was spoken.
"So now what?" Teased Ivy.
"I can teach her." Replied Chase.
"Have fun with the two of them." Mused Ivy. "Good luck to you."
"I think it will take more than luck." Replied Chase.
The end.
